Are newborn stats capped?

Are newborn stats capped?
Posted 2021-03-08 08:43:45

I saw discussion about this in a different thread but wanted to discuss this specifically: is there a limit to how high stats can get thru leveling wolves to 20 and then breeding them, and then leveling up their offspring?

What is this cap and how does it work?

I saw someone say if Sunfall bred with another Sunfall of the same stats, the pup would not be able to reach his same stats at level 20.

Just trying to understand this as someone interested in stats.

The amount of stats you can gain through level up alone 1 to 20 is 418 (see level up table here).

The birth stat is calculated as grand total birth stat = parents' grand total stat x 20% + (range of 105 - 155) (see details here).

This means that, without the +1 stats gain by scouting, hunting, or battling, the stats are soft capped.

Here is the actual example of Sunfall. At retirement he reached 1425. If you breed Sunfall x Sunfall, in the best case scenario, his offspring will be born with stats at = (1425 + 1425) x 20% + 155 = 725 stats. By leveling up, he will gain 418 stats, bring his stats at level 20 to 1143, which is still significantly lower than Sunfall.

This is why it is very costly for LB to reach LB stats.

Note, the calculation methods we currently have are flawed, somethings dont add up especially higher up and no one really knows

@6646, can you provide examples of how the formula does not work? My friend (#9700) and I have been tracking birth stats and we haven't seen anything that was outside of the formula.

My girl had a wisdom of 298 and a smarts of 299

i bred her to reveron that had 252 wis 260 smarts

By your estimates of 20% individual total + 21-31

the puppies i should have gotten should have

131-141 wis

133-143 smarts

she had a litter of 4

1st child: 126 w/127sm

2nd child: 125w/127sm

3rd child: 134w/134sm

4th child: 130/127

by this example only 1/4 of my pups managed to get into the range of this calculation and even so, do it just barely

And I'm assuming parents' stats are taken at time of breeding, and not at time of birth.

I personally have not seen anything like this thus far, and if this does reoccur can you please provide screen caps with time stamps and post it on my thread? I would love to keep track of these anomalies and see what changes is necessary.

Aight, could you send me the post link?

My current theory is that stat inheritance percent goes up/down logarithmically

eg total individualx(percent based on total individual)

so a 300total indiv breeding would inherit a higher percent than a lets say in my case a 560 stat one

which would explain why my wolves with very high specific stats would have pups that consistently go under your range+ explain why wolves are inheriting more/less

My thread is here, let's move there for further discussion.
