~The World~

It is believed that many, many generations ago,  when the land was ruled by evil and destructive beasts that walked on two legs and were able to kill from great distances. These beasts were great in numbers and killed anything in their path. They destroyed fields and forests and tainted rivers and lakes. Many wolves and other animals lost their lives under their rein or were forced to flee from their homes for a chance of survival. The wolves grew to hate these two-legged beasts, but were powerless against them.

Then one day a blinding light flashed that shook the earth and caused black clouds to devour the sun. The days that followed were said to be some of the most devastating. It became difficult to breathe, most safe drinking water was tainted and food became ever more scarce. This caused the tension between wolves and the two-legged to grow even higher, but the two-legged were still too strong against wolves.

When all hope seemed lost and wolves were low in number, a grand and majestic she-wolf as dark as the night sky and eyes as white as the moon rose from atop a mountain. With her mate by her side and the rest of her pack of unusual looking wolves right behind her, they fought against the two-legged beasts and greatly reduced their enemy's numbers. After days of fighting, all of the two-legged beasts were defeated, but the she-wolf lost most of her pack. Before victory could be celebrated, her mate succumbed to his wounds and with his final breath the sun returned to the sky. That night,  the she-wolf returned to her mountain, and on the lake's edge she too succumbed to her wounds, bring forth a moon so large and so bright that nothing could hide from its light.

Since then wolves and the rest of the world flourished, and wolves continue to pray to the she-wolf and her pack to give thanks and to ask for continued protection.

~The Lost Hills Pack~

Lost Hills pack is a well structured and religious pack, named after the land they've claimed. They are a very welcoming pack to those who they call friends, welcome lone wolves with open arms and help those who are in need of it.

Currently accepting outside wolves/adolescents/pups

~Allies~
The Redfeather Pack

~Rivals~
The Ice Moon Clan

*Dm if you'd like to be an ally or a rival of the Lost Hills Pack and/or collab on some lore or rp!!!

~The Land~

(Image made by me)

Biome: Deciduous Forest

The pack lives in a heavily forested area that spans from the top of a small mountain to the north to a wide river to the south.  Trees in this area consist mostly of aspens, and elms that have their leaves change color in fall and shed during winter, and evergreens pines.

With how dense the forest is, very little light can shine through the canopy, which keeps the temperature very mild during spring and especially during summer. With the mild temperatures, moss grows abundant along the forest ground.

The area starts to warm up considerably during late summer and early fall when the protective canopy begins to thin and more light reaches the ground. Once the leaves have completely fallen from the tree, it's not long before the first snow starts to fall and the days and nights become colder and colder. The middle of winter is some of the harshest times for the pack as snow fall increases and temperatures continue to drop.

The overall territory is further broken down into small sections (called "lands") that are controlled by each of the Houses. However, travel between lands are NOT restricted currently.
___________________________________

Yellow - House of Azura
Located on the upper of the mountain, this is where the Pack leaders and their family live, as well as the Oracle, the Shaman, the Ambassador and the Soothsayer.

The Blessed Lake:  Located at the very top of the mountain, the Blessed Lake is a small fairly shallow lake surrounded by trees. In the center, a beautiful, but rare willow tree grows on a small moss covered island. This island is off-limits to everyone besides the Oracle, Shaman and Pack Leader as it is believed to be the entrance to the spiritual realm. Often shrouded in fog, the atmosphere around the lake is said to be very mystical.  It is here where many of the pack's rituals and ceremonies are held, and many pack members pilgrimage here to pray and worship the gods. The Oracle and Shaman also have a simple private den dug out nearby.

The Soothsayer's Cave: Located south-east of the House of Azura's land, this is were the Soothsayer lives and perform some minor rituals and fortunetelling. The entrance to the cave can be found between the roots of a large pine tree. There, a long tunnel dotted with bioluminescent fungi and moss lighting the way towards the cave. It is a low ceiling cave covered with more bioluminescent plants that completely illuminate the cave. Pelts, bones, skulls and dried herbs for burning decorate the ground and walls of the front area. Towards the back is a very shallow spring that is believed to hold some mystical properties. The Soothsayer's cave is open to all seeking fortunetelling, paw readings and more.

The Leader's Den: Located on the west side, here the Leader and their family live. The dens, dug out of the cliff sides, are simple and ordinary. These are private dens, pack members are not allowed here, unless there is an emergency.

The Ambassador's Den : Located south of Leader's den, the Ambassador's den is where all ambassadors stay when they are not away visiting other packs. It rather simple, but private.

___________________________________

Lavender - House of Koh
On the west side of the territory lives the Herbalist and the Druid.

The Apothecary Cave: Located north east, this is where the Herbalist spends much of their time crafting and brewing medicine for the ill. It's a small cave hidden behind cascading vines. Various pelts cushion the ground with several pestles and mortars strewn about, and the walls are decorated with bundles of hanging herbs and other crafting materials.

Druid Lake: Located south-west of the House of Koh's land, many of the necessary herbs needed for the medicines are cultivated by the druid, the herbalist's mate, around the lake. Besides the Herbalist, no one is allowed to enter in fear that precious and rare herbs can be damaged.

The Sick Dens: Located on the far western side, away from other pack members, is a series of dug dens for the ill. Here the sick are quarantined to prevent the spread of illness and are seen and kept comfortable by only the herbalist. Non-ill wolves are not allowed in the area.

___________________________________

Light Blue- House of Vali
Located in the heart of the territory surrounded by the other houses, is where pups are born and raised to adulthood. The location is important as the other houses can watch and guard the pups easily.

Rearing Dens: Located in the southern most part of the House of Vali's lands, here expecting mothers can give birth and nurse their pups in pelt lined dens. Once the pups are weaned they will continue living in the rearing dens with a pupsitter to watch over them during the night.

Playing grounds: Located in the center of the land, weaned pups can play and learn the basics of pack life under the watchful eyes of pupsitters during the day. In this area the trees aren't packed as densely as they are in other areas of the territory making it easier to watch the movements of each pup.

Schooling Meadow: Located on the northern part of the land, is a large flower-filled meadow where adolescence wolves can learn more in depth of pack life and their future roles they will take from appointed mentors in a peaceful and quiet area.

___________________________________

Purple - House of Senka
Located on the eastern side of the pack's territory, this is where the scouts live while they are not patrolling.

Dens: There are two den locations, one is the northern part of the land and one in the south. The wolf that scouts and patrols the northern part of territory and surrounding mountain ranges lives in the northern den with any family they may have. Whereas the southern den is occupied by the wolf who scouts and patrols the south part of territory and across the river and their family.

Traveler's Hallow: These are small simple dens dug at the base of tree roots to provide wolves from other packs a place to stay while rest within the territory.

___________________________________

Pink - House of Kana
Located in the very southern part of the territory bordering the river. Here all the hunters and members of the House of Kana live and train.

Training grounds:  There are two training areas within the House of Kana lands, one on each end. These training areas are used when the hunters are not sent out to hunt in order to practice and work on their team work.

Dens: There are three sets of dens located throughout the land, with each team occupying one set. Each hunting team dens with teammates in order to further strength their bonds.

___________________________________

Neutral Areas
These areas are not claimed by the pack or any one house.

Meeting Meadow: Located between The House of Azura, Koh and Vali. Here, the Head of Houses and other pack members gather to discuss various aspects of pack life and can air their graveness and concerns to the Pack Leader as well.

Hunting Grounds: Located across the river, the hunting teams are sent here to find prey to bring back for meals.

Azura

The First Leader

A kind and patient leader of the Lost Hill Pack. Despite her aloof and somewhat unapproachable appearance, Azura was a well respected and well loved leader of the pack. She ruled the pack with a firm grip to ensure the survival of everyone, but she was never known to be cruel. Those close to Azura never knew her to get angry or even raise her voice.

Spending much of her young adult years alone, Azura only had a vague memory of her parents with only a few fond memories of her mother telling about ancient gods and spirits. One day, she stepped onto the land known as the Lost Hills, a wild, eerie land that was devoid of any other life.

While exploring the surrounding land, she arrived at a particular lake at the mountain's peak. A shallow lake with water that seemed to glow in the moonlight and a willow tree growing from a small island in the center. The gentle glow called her and before Azula knew it her vision was filled with ghost images of gods and spirit of old. The same ones her mother once spoke of. As her vision cleared, she looked down at her reflection in the water and realized her once amber eyes were now an unearthly shade of violet.

Blessed by gods and seemingly given permission to claim the once sacred mountain range as her own, together with her friend, Nala, Azura knew it was time to start her own pack and revive the memories of the ancient spirits. From here, she traveled the lands, befriending many, and formed a strong pack. As the pack grew, the once forgotten land came back to life.

Nala

A Brave Scout of the Unknown

Nala first met Azura a few months prior to them forming the pack. She left her previous pack at a young age to try and strike it out on her own, however soon learned that it was much more difficult to survive alone. She was hesitant of Azura at first,  as Azura often spoke of gods and goddesses, and things they knew to be children's tales. However, after witnessing Azura's golden eyes change to a bright violet, Nala started to think that maybe everything that Azura spoke of might be true.

Deciding to put her faith in Azura, Nala went ahead and took up the role of scout and sentry. She secured and guarded the border of their new territory and discovered and studied the sounding lands. She made sure the land was safe for the newly formed pack.

**Nala's bloodline wasn't not continued after her great grandchild, Garren, in Spring of Year 23. Sadly, because of this the House of Nala is no more, being replaced by young she-wolf named Senka.

Kana

A Fierce Huntress

Kana was the first wolf to join the Lost Hill pack started by Azura and Nala, and quickly fell into the role of hunter and warrior. Providing food and protection from predators and enemy wolves to her packmates. Her good natured personality had many wolves looking up to her and following her lead. She soon began training the newcomers how to be effective hunters and warriors. She was very well respected among her peers and underlings.

Kana's beloved mate Dušan, who passed away a little after the birth of their daughter, was her greatest supporter and was always by her side. His death hit her hard. She is now survived by her only child, Neith, whom Kana loved dearly after primarily raising by herself.

Koh

A Dedicated Healer and Herbalist

Koh was the next wolf to join the pack after Kana. After a brutal take over from outsiders, he escaped from his birth pack's territory. He spent many months alone, traveling far away from the only home he knew, before he ran into Azura who was recruiting lone wolves to her pack. Being quite a bit older when he met Azura, he had a wealth of knowledge of the natural world that the new pack of younger wolves did not have. Thus it was only natural that he filled the role of herbalist and healer.

He worked hard to study different herbal combinations to create remedies to cure the ill and heal wounds quickly. He set up sick dens on one side of the territory to help prevent the spread of contagious illness and together with his mate, Vala, cultivated important herbs in the territory.

Vali

A Compassionate Soul

Vali  was young and playful, having just recently left his birth pack in search of a mate. However, he soon learned that being alone was not for him, but not wanting to face the humiliation of returning to his birth pack so soon he continued on for a little while longer. When he finally decided that he should probably return home, he bumped into Azura, who offered him refuge.

While Vali didn't believe in the gods or goddesses Azura spoke of, he still took her offer to join her pack. By this point, the Lost Hill pack had grown some with the first litters being born and the pack was struggling to watch them and fulfill their normal duties. Vali, feeling grateful to Azura, stepped up and offered to watch over pups full time so that everyone else could return to their normal routine.

From this point, Vali became the first pupsitter and as he invested more into his role began planning. He dug a series of dens for expecting and nursing mothers, and recruited adolescents to help in the pupsitting. When the pack grew even larger and there were more than enough adults to help in watching the pups, Vali set up the Schooling Meadow, where elder wolves would teach and mentor the adolescents and prepare them for adulthood.

~The Houses~

The five clans, or Houses,  of the Lost Hills pack were formed in honor of the founding members. Each House specializes in a specific roles that contributes to the health, wellbeing and survival of the pack as a whole. The Houses are run by one wolf who is given the title of " Head of House", this wolf is directly related to the named founder of their house.

The Head wolf must pair bond to another (who's given the title of Head Mate) and produce an heir, who will eventually take the control of the House and be given the title of "Head of House". The heir will take the title and full control upon the death of both their parents. If the Head of House passes, then their bonded mate will control the House until they pass as well. However, if the Head of House reaches level 20, they can then step down from their roles and allow their heir to take control.

The bloodline of the houses are very important the pack. Each house lineage must be remain healthy and clean, thus inbreeding is greatly frowned upon. Heads wolf can only pair bond with a wolf within the same generational line as them or with  heritage-less wolves. If inbreeding occurs, those pups are unable to receive any titles from their parents. Nor can a wolf with instances of inbreeding in an lineages pair bond to a Head wolf or their named heir.

~The House of Azura~

The House of  Leaders. This is the most noble and respected House in the pack. This House is named after Azura, the founding leader the Lost Hill pack. The House sits at one of the highest point of the territory, where they can watch over the pack and be close to the Blessed Lake. This House is home to the Azura's lineage, as well as the Seer, Shaman and Soothsayer.

Many that travel here say that there is an air of calm and peace here. The forest is unbelievably quiet with the only thing breaking the silence are the hums and chants of the Seer and Shaman.

Formed in Winter year 1

~The House of Kana~

The House of Hunters and Warriors. Named after the first skilled hunter to join Azura and her newly formed pack. This house is the largest. It is where Kana's lineage and all the bond-less hunters reside. Believed to be one of the more ridged and strict houses. However, there tends to be a lot more playful roughhousing and rowdiness in between training sessions. The wolves here have a special bond with a level of loyalty to each other that knows no bounds. Considering that their role is one of the most vital, but also one of the most dangerous, this is to be expected.

There are currently 3 hunting parties. Each hunting party was strategically formed by the Head of House and  must go through daily training and team bonding exercises.  These wolves spend a lot of time together, only going their separate ways to return to their sleeping areas or bonded mate, if they have one, at the end of the day.

Formed in Winter year 1

~The House of Koh~

The House of Medicine. Named after a kind wolf, who took it upon himself to heal the ill. It is  home to Koh's lineage and the Druid,  and temporarily to those who have fallen ill. The skills and knowledge of a herbalist are typically passed down from the Head of House to heir for generations.

Compared to the House of Kana, the wolves here tend to be very quiet and peaceful to allow the ill to heal. While the current herbalist spends their time to mixing herbs for the ill, others spend their time studying herbs and wondering the pack territory.

Formed in Winter year 1

~The House of Senka~

The House of Scouts and Sentries. Having taking over the role that former Head Wolf of House of Nala, Garren, left behind in Spring year 23, Senka is now Head Wolf of the brand new House of Senka. The She-wolf will take over the duties and command  all scouts and sentries. This quiet and clam house, has two main scouts that are often away traveling and reporting on new lands, while everyone stay within the territory and protects the boarders. They use this time to learn the territory and to keep an out for any predators or enemy wolves.

Formed in Summer year 24

~The House of Vali~

The House of Pupsitters and Mentors. In honor of his vital role of rearing the next generation, Azura created the House of Vali. Here all pupsitters, mentors, expecting and nursing mothers, and pups and adolescences stay. Full of laughter and playful pups and mother's who just want to sleep.
Those living under this House learn the skills needed for midwifery, pup rearing, and early pup-hood education to ensure the survival of the new generation.  While many would think those in this house to be weak and soft, in actuality it is its 24/7 role with very little breaks and tends to put a lot of mental and physical stress on the pupsitters. The wolves under this house have learned to appreciate nap time no matter how short it is.

Formed in Winter year 1

~Former  Houses~

These houses are no longer apart of the Lost Hills pack for vairious reasons. As sad as it is to see a House disband, pack life must go on and a new House must be formed to fill the hole. This is now an opportunity for an ordinary pack member to have a chance at claiming the prestigious, but demanding, role that is rarely open.

~The House of Nala~

The House of Scouts and Sentries. Named after the second founding member of the pack who later became the first scout. Nala's lineage  and all future scouts and sentries stay here. Another quiet house, while the main two scouts are often away doing their duty, any others stay within the territory here. They use this time to learn the territory and to keep an out for any predators or enemy wolves.

~Active years: Winter year 1 - Spring Year 23

~Replaced by: Senka
