Wolf Flavor Texts

Wolf Flavor Texts
Posted 2021-01-20 10:26:08

Hello! I do not know if this is planned or implemented and I just have ignored it, but I would love to get some small little flavor texts when I click on one of my wolves pages. This was always something I enjoyed in Lioden, and I feel like it could work well here, as it isn't really a game mechanic, just something fun.

For those who don't know, in Lioden, you can click on one of your lions pages, and you could occasionally be greeted with a blue bar at the top of the page that said something like "x came and groomed you!" It was dependent on the personality of the lion, and honestly did nothing besides make me feel like my lions were interacting with each other.

With the introduction of pair bonding (easily the best mechanic I've seen in pretty much any game ever), lore seems to be something that the devs know about and care about, which is absolutely amazing considering they just needed to make a game that played well and didn't have to worry about lore, I think it could be a fun little thing. Different roles could get different texts as well, and it could take into context the age, hunger level, health level, and energy level as well. For example, if you click on your herbalists page when they are full, happy, and healthy,  they could be eagerly chatting about herbs or what they've been learning.

Using my wolves, I came up with a few examples.

"As you approach Fern, she notices you and bounds over to you to eagerly explain a cure that she recently learned. You politely nod along, not understanding what she's saying." (Herbalist)

"You go up to check on Fern, only to see that she is asleep, mumbling about herbs." (Herbalist, low to no energy)

"You try to approach Fern, but find her snubbing you. Perhaps you should give her something to eat?" (All wolves, low hunger)

"You approach Glacier, but are surprised to see him staring at his paws sadly. Perhaps you should give him a toy?" (All wolves, low happiness)

"You are walking by when you hear Blizzard humming to [insert pups she is watching]. Aww..." (Pupsitters with pups)

"You see Blizzard asleep with [insert pups she is watching]. Seems like they had a fun time today." (Pupsitters with pups and low to no energy)

"You are only a few wolf-lengths away from Chocolate when she bounds up to you, asking you if anyone will have pups soon." (Pupsitter without pups)

"Chocolate seems to be taking a nap. As you approach, you can hear her muttering about how much she loves puppies." (Pupsitter without pups and low to no energy)

"Glacier nods as you approach and begins to explain what he found on his last scouting mission." (Scout)

"Glacier is curled up and snoring. His paws are churning, as if he's scouting someplace in his sleep." (Scout, low energy)

"Snow seems to be eagerly recalling the chase of a hunt. You listen to his story for a bit before moving on." (Chaser)

"Creampuff is running in her sleep. Seems like she's chasing prey in her dreams!" (Chaser, low to no energy)

"Goldenrod is explaining to [insert a random wolf here] about how he tracks/stalks his prey." (Tracker/stalker)

"Goldenrod is passed out, but his nose keeps twitching like he's trying to find prey." (Tracker/stalker, low to no energy)

"Amber eagerly comes up to you to boast about his last kill and how big it was. You're pretty sure he's exaggerating." (Finisher)

"Whoa! You approach Amber, only for him to snap at you! A quick look shows that he's asleep. Must be dreaming about hunting." (Finisher, low to no energy)

There could also be some flavor text for pair bonds, like...

"You go over to Snow in an attempt to speak to him, but find him happily playing with Fern. Perhaps you should leave them alone." (Pair bond)

"You stumble across Glow and Jet. They are happily napping snuggled up for each other. Aww..." (pair bond, low to no energy)

"You approach Glacier and nuzzle him happily. He tells you that he missed you." (Your lead wolf''s pair bond mate.)

"You look for Glacier, only to find him curled up in your nest asleep. You giggle at his funny sleeping position." (Your lead wolf's pair bond mate, low to no energy)

Pups could have more flavor texts as well.

"Ouch! [pups name] bit your tail! Maybe you should find her a pupsitter..." (Pup, no pupsitter)

"Look out! You almost tripped over [pups name]! He's sleeping in the middle of camp. Maybe you should get him a pupsitter..." (Pup, no pupsitter, low to no energy)

"You laugh as you see [pups name] playing with Blizzard. Seems like he is enjoying himself." (Pup, with pupsitter)

"You see [pups name] playing with [name of pup the pupsitter is also watching]. Chocolate is keeping a close eye on her to make sure she's not too rough." (Pup, with pupsitter who is watching multiple pups)

"[pups name] is curled up in the crook of Ash's stomach and is using her tail as a blanket. Cute!" (Pup, with pupsitter, low to no energy)

"[pups name] is resting with her head on [name of pup the pupsitter is also watching]'s back. Blizzard is watching them carefully."

This could carry to adolescents as well.

"Ginger is watching Snow carefully, seemingly trying to learn how to chase prey." (Adolescent)

"Melon is curled up by herself and is snarling when others come close. Sigh. Teen angst." (Adolescent, low to no energy)

You could also have stuff like this.

"Glacier and Glow are chatting about how they scout different areas. You decide to leave them to the conversation." (Two scouts talking with each other)

"Snow seems to be chatting with Creampuff, Amber, Jet, and Goldenrod. They're talking about how they can work better together in their hunts." (Hunting party talking with each other)

"Goldenrod and Melon are chatting about the best ways to track/stalk prey." (Two trackers/stalkers talking with each other)

"Blue and Amber are swapping ideas about how to bring down prey more efficiently." (Two finishers talking with each other)

"Snow and Ginger are racing each other. You can hear them yelling about which one is better at chasing prey. Sigh." (Two chasers talking with each other)

"Blizzard and Chocolate are letting the pups they are watching play with each other." (Two pupsitters with pups)

"Chocolate is helping Blizzard out with the pups." (Two pupsitters, one with pups)

"Blizzard and Ash are talking about the best games to play with their pups." (Two pupsitters, neither with pups)

Finally, we could have special texts for nursing, sick, pregnant, and in heat wolves.

"You hear Goldie yelp and quickly go check out what is wrong. Seems like one of her pups bit her a little too hard. Ow." (Nursing wolf)

"Blizzard has her tail curled around her pups protectively as they all nap. Best not disturb them." (Nursing wolf, low to no energy)

"Chocolate is complaining about how her paws and back hurt. Maybe nesting her will help her with that." (Pregnant, no nest)

"Creampuff grunts as she sleeps, clearly uncomfortable. Maybe she'd feel better if she nested?" (Pregnant, no nest, low to no energy)

"Fern is happily curled up in her nest, nuzzling her belly. She seems happy!" (Pregnant, nested)

"Glow is curled up in her nest, nose in front of her belly. It's like she's trying to cuddle her unborn pups!" (Pregnant, nested, low to no energy)

"Ash is very happy to chat with Glacier today. A quick whiff of the air tells you why. She's in heat." (Non pair bonded, in heat)

"Ash is really spending a lot of time with Goldenrod... oh. She's in heat." (Pair bonded, in heat)

"Melon seems to be under the weather. Maybe you should take her to your herbalist?" (Sick, not diagnosed)

"Ginger looks at you and smiles weakly. You feel bad.  Maybe you should give her medicine?" (Sick, diagnosed).

These are just some examples of what I would want to see. Anyone else?

I think this is an adorable and fantastic idea!!!! I've always got my headcanons about my wolves interacting, but this would honestly please me to no end. The only real described 'interaction' you get with your wolves at the moment is the notifcations for puppy injuries in daily rollover summaries- which I do honestly enjoy reading pfff- having a bit more would be very very very nice <3

Definitely like all these little examples, quite cute! I hope these might get taken into consideration, as I believe flavor text is something they might add? But it’s probably on the back burner due to how many personalities they have, and how many bigger features there are to be worked on. These suggestions might make it easier to come up with ideas though.

god id love this, its so silly and cheesy and cute but it would add quite a bit to simply flipping through your wolves. only downside is it would make feeding and playing with wolves harder for me simply cause id get distracted reading them XD. be nice little "lore" additions too, even if its some basic text
