Coming back from hiatus... I missed a *LOT*

Honestly, I think I need help with everything, although I'm not really looking to get "adopted" so decided to post this here! Came back from a hiatus and am now super confused lmao

To start with, is clean/dirty now a thing? I play Lioden, and am completely familiar with how it works there, so if anyone plays both, maybe a comparison to LD/WD might be helpful, so inbreeding/Big 4 for Lioden and whatever it is for Wolvden. I've seen stud ads with "Clean" in them, so wondering if its becoming a thing here too, and how much people value clean wolves/studs

Second, I know that merles are kinda like LIoden's rosettes, basically the valued markings, but what other valuable ones are there? I think I've heard inuit/tamaskan unders and seen it a few times too, although the only one I'm 100% sure about is the merles. And the bases... I get the tier thing, kind of like "breed only" on Lioden, but what's the difference between tier 2/3? I also think I saw someone mention combo bases in a stud ad, are there combos on WD now?

And those UPDATES-- Basically, I have no idea wtf I'm doing, other than that you hunt, breed and <s>patrol</s> sorry scout, and some other things. Not a newbie exactly, but a previous player from when it was so much simpler. Can't say an older player since Wolvden hasn't been open for that long, but before today the last time I logged in was a couple months ago. The last update I saw was the one about finding decors or something in explore, and crafting nests I believe, although I might've just read that somewhere else (social media post, friend told me, etc.)

Thanks, Bee

just as a little aside, I joined the site when merle was the thing, and after spending many cones to produce pretty merles, I can say that they're not as popular as they used to be... xD;;

Oh really? Thanks! I can def see that they aren't *as* valued, although more than the standard ones you'd pick for your first lead wolf, but good to know

Welcome back!

I think ‘clean’ is still being used to only mean ‘non-inbred’ here, though the way it’s going we might have a ‘big 4’ soon. High stat pups are much more valuable if they’re not inbred or related to the leaderboard, especially if they’re low generation.

Merle’s officially fallen out of favour, most folks I’ve seen would rather a no-Merle pup than a multi-Merle. Inuit/tamaskan unders are less over-bred, and combo marks are still popular in pups and studs.

People seem to think auburn is a combo base? It hasn’t been confirmed though, might just be breed only. No others have been announced.

Tier 3 is the biggest new thing! They’re crazy expensive because only one applicator has been released - for the fox base - and it requires a lot of fox trophy drops. Like, would take years to achieve without going broke buying parts amount of fox drops. Their pass rate is also much lower - 1% for IxIII and for IIxIII breedings. Because of this, most tier 3s are warm based and related to just a few leaderboard studs.

Right now, valuable wise, Tier 3, muties, and fox eyes (maybe to a lesser extent) seem to be the big advertising points.
Tier 3 are the super rare bases, very difficult to get save for the Fox base. The only reason the Fox base isn't as difficult to get is because you don't have to breed for them-by fighting foxes you can get the Fox Base Applicator recipe. It's still a load of work to get all the trophies you'd need to craft them (and the recipe drop to begin with), but it makes them moderately more accessible than other T3 bases.
Combo bases, last I checked, hadn't been confirmed as being found (admittedly I also don't really pay that  much attention to them~). Combo markings are a thing - this guide does a better job explaining it than I ever could.

As far as inbred/not inbred, I think that tends to be more personal preference. It seems more folks are leaning toward not inbred, or at least it's a common advertising point.

Updates... well, there's a whole lot. After 30 rollovers, you'll get the option to start the Pair Bonding quest (and a few updates to it). Also mentioned in the first pair bonding news post is the release of the Fox base/Fox eyes and some more craftable decor. Craftable decor recipes can be found in various ways now, primarily through explore.
I think those are the bigger things? Or at least the ones I can recall~

Oh wow. That's definitely-- a lot xD

Did not know about combo marks, so that's pretty cool, and that fox base is FIRE (both literally and not) so that's awesome! Gonna be fighting foxes then, and the pair bonding also sounds like a great thing to have, kinda like selective breeding a way, except these are digital images. Interesting about the merles too, although I can def see that they are a lot more common at this point. I don't think I've found any recipes yet, although I hope that by exploring some more then I'll be to find some :) Thank you both, super helpful for giving me an idea of what I've missed and what to start with!
