I don't know much about economics, so maybe there's a better solution than this, but I've noticed a weird cycle on the game: a new marking gets popular, they're expensive at first, then suddenly there's way to many of them and they're impossible to sell.
Take merles for example- I feel like they used to be the coolest thing on the game, and pups were going for at least 100 SC, but now I struggle to sell my merle puppies at 5 SC because there's so many of them and everybody is competing to have the lowest price. I can see melanistics slowly going down the same path (people having discounted stud fees or selling pups for way too cheap) and I'm guessing foxes will eventually get there too.

I've spoken to a few friends, and I think we all agree that this problem could be helped by making a minimum price for selling wolves the same way there's a minimum price for studding; a wolf with a certain amount of markings or tier II+ bases can't be sold for less than xyz price.  I feel like this would not only keep cool markings from getting oversaturated, but also make it easier to actually sell wolves that don't have trendy markings (I struggle to GIVE AWAY my 6+ marking pups if they don't have merle, inuit, tier II, etc., even if they're really pretty) and overall make the game a little less competitive and more fun.

I hope all this made sense!!

No support. Increasing prices on wolves you already cannot sell isn't a solution to the problem you have outlined.

Most people seem to agree that a pup sink mechanic is a way to increase pup value but the value of wolves will still be dictated by supply and demand.

Naturally, when there is a new or rare marking or base, demand is high due to rarity. Rarity will always decrease, which means demand will decrease, which means price will decrease. Increasing the price of an item not in demand will not incentives people to buy. That's why a lot of players offer refunds on things with fixed minimums in game already.

Edit: FYI, the staff have confirmed that a pup sink mechanic is planned to be released so that should help the market a little.
