Show Instances of Inbreeding

What was even the reason behind making it pay to check, aside from (let's be honest) spite? WD already has enough stuff you have to pay for that should be free.

I believe it's to prevent people from 'forcing their playstyle on others'? At least that's what I'm getting from previous comments.

Why would I have any spite?  I AM a NIB player!

I only suggest the low SC option because scrying tends to have some cost, so I would prefer that it was very low. But free would be better.

So... if you're suggesting a free scrying system, why not just add the counter?

If you're suggesting adding a scrying feature, new players are /also/ going to look at that and be confused, and like 'hey, is this important? do I need to do this?'

What's the difference?

Im not talking about you, I'm talking about Bone Fairy.

For me, scrying is completely off the table. Scrying for looks or mutations is one thing, because those are game-sanctioned selling points, but Clean is a "player thing" then that means there's no inherent benefit to scry, therefore, it shouldn't cost money since inbreeding doesn't affect a wolf at all.

Unless it's done for player benefit in which case that WOULD techinically count as a feature meant to sanction one playstyle.

To be quite frank, I don't really understand how one would "scry" for inbreeding. It's not like it'd affect the appearances of the puppies, and the Scrying Stone doesn't provide any text, just images. A "scrying" mechanic added for this would be much different than the current scrying system, and likely more work than a simple ticker on a wolf's page.

The main difference between a scry and a display on a wolves page is centrality. A wolves main page is a central part of gameplay, and therefore things displayed there should be central to gameplay. Inbreeding is not a central gameplay element, so it should not be a wolves main page.  Like I said earlier, I am undecided on a indicator on a wolves family page, since that is more out-of-the-way location that only really matters to NIB players. However, it is still linked to the main page, making it still fairly central.

All the scrying options are things a player may want to know, but doesn't need to know, game-play wise. IE, how many pups a pregnant wolf is caring before she give birth, possible offspring, ext. I believe inbreeding fits within this theme.

1) It will not confuse new players if this feature is in the family page rather than on the wolf's page. The counter can also easily say that inbreeding has no effect on gameplay. This is not a reason that makes any sense, as it is so easily avoided.

2) Inbreeding is already a playstyle. If people want to inbreed, they can. Wolves that are already inbred are already inbred. Again, having a counter does not change this fact—NIB players are still going to manually check the family trees in order not to inbreed. A counter would just make our lives so much easier.

For me it would be on the family page, not the main wolf page. At least in my ideal world lol.

I would support this as long as it was toggleable so it can fit everyone's playstyle and not confuse anyone. I remember joining Lioden and buying all sorts of lions just because I thought they were pretty, but once I learned about "clean" and "dirty" most of my pride became instantly unappealing to me because of the "possible inbreeding" text. I thought it lowered their value and after talking to many other players, they experienced the same. "Clean" breeding is way too much work for me now, but I can understand why people would like to do it.

Anyways, like I said. As long as it was toggleable, and careful not to put down other people's playstyles, I think it would be fine ^^
