Haha, the title is just my attempt of trying to have a clever title lmao

I'm not personally going to go too hard into avoiding spoilers for Rise, I'm going to watch all trailers for it and such. But after that I will avoid videos and discussing it as I want to be surprised of what things they didn't show in the trailer. And like with MHW, mainly try to solo the story missions.

Oh hey, a thread for my newest time eater

I'm a relative newcomer, have been familiar with the series for a few years through a friend and played a little bit of 4, but didn't start playing seriously until World, a few weeks ago. Insect Glaive main with a bit of Hunting Horn and Lance, considering picking up Charge Blade after. Still slowly working through the main story of World. I've just beaten Nergigante and Vaal Hazak, so I'm assuming Iceborne isn't too far off.

I always try to capture monsters. I'm sad there's no way to "spare" Elder Dragons. :C Like I hear about them wrecking the environment and being hostile on sight or whatever but when I encounter Kirin or Vaal Hazak they're just minding their own business and don't mind me chilling. And then I hit them in the face with a stick and a bug, and when they decide they've had enough I chase them down to their homes and put bombs on their face. I'm pretty sure I'm the asshole here

Anyway

I get down all the time on Monster Hunter: World!!

I currently have about ~340hrs in the game, I play on PC, and if anyone's interested in playing with me I'd happily give out my steam.

I've beaten Fatalis and I'm in Iceborne: World "endgame" I guess you'd call it, but I'd be totally open to playing with anyone and everyone.

yooo!!! i was wondering if anyone here played monster hunter!! :O good to see so many people play it!

my first monster hunter was mhw: iceborne, and i play on ps4. (i also still actively play! if anyone wants to be friends and go on some hunts, i'd love to!) i played base mhw for almost 500 hours or so and got all hyped for iceborne when it was announced, but i couldn't buy it when it came out. i purchased iceborne i think sometime late last year and gained almost 300 hours playing that lmao. currently sitting around ~760 hours in the game and into the deep deep endgame. i main long sword, switch axe, and hammer! currently putting more time into switch axe along with trying (and failing) desperately to beat fatalis lol.

i also purchased mh:gu for my switch but i can't really seem to get into it

as for my favorite monsters i have to say odogaron or nargacuga (mhw). stygian zinogre is also badass! my favorite elder dragons have got to be: teostra, (design is amazing, hunting him is a pain. as for lunastra, she's also cool looking but... her hunts? especially MR LUNASTRA??? i am nothing but a hollow husk) namielle, and alatreon (despite him absolutely crushing my spirit until i was finally able to beat him, his design is breathtaking).

Ooo, discussing our favourite monsters are we?

I started with Tri and have played at least 1 game from each generation since, so I have fought most of the monsters in the main series by now. I have to say that Querpecco is a monster that has to come back. Having a ridiculous bird wyvern come into your hunts and then call a Deviljho down upon you just made hunts much more hair-raising. Not to mention that the vivid colours just suit it so well. I also love the underwater fights, so Gobul, Lagiacrus and Ceadeus (that music!) are monsters that I think back fondly on.

Gora Magala and its adult form are both great Elder Dragons which fit perfectly with 4U and improved upon other monster fights with the frenzy virus. For the MHW/I monsters, I just love Banbaro, Pukei Pukei, Blackveil Vaal Hazak and Namielle; they are all wonderful additions to the roster for varying reasons. Banboro and Pukei Pukei are great early game monsters with their own unique mechanics and look gorgeous. Vaal Hazak is a zombie dragon and a real challenge without the right decorations, and Namielle is almost otherworldly and a brilliant water elder dragon. I really like how, especially in the recent games, the ecosystem has been focused on more. Monsters now interact with one another, and have a natural balance which makes everything seem more 'real'.

Those are the reasons why I am so excited for Rise! I'm hoping to see even more monster on monster interactions, not only turf wars - but perhaps teostra & lunastra style bonding too? Like some monsters having a chance to just start attacking you together instead of hitting each other. It could be interesting dynamic and spice up your hunting experience.

I also really just can't wait to see more of the world in Rise and maps, we have the forest map - but we will most likely get the desert and volcano one too, possibly the ice one in the base game too. But... what about a new unique map?

I love MH! I've played 3U and World. I especially appreciate the attention given to the setting's ecology, there's nothing cooler than seeing the monsters interact with each other, not to mention World's entire plotline. Not sure if I have a favorite monster but I'm unusually fond of our mud-shoving pal Barroth.

So... What does everyone feel about the Monster Hunter movie? I honestly don't have high hopes for it, but I'm going to watch it anyway :''DDD And I'm going to ask my MHW hunter buddy to watch it with me, probably not in theatres though.
