What are the Fox Drop Rates?

I know just about everyone is in a scramble to acquire the game's first Tier III Base and by the looks of it, some players have even already done so somehow. But like the majority, I am crippled by back luck and low funds and this brought the question to me as someone trying to earn the ingredients without having to pay 1000+ SC for a single canine claw. What are the encounter and drop rates of the foxes? What are the best biomes to find them? What best time of day?

I must have encountered 30 something foxes since the release and haven't gotten so much as a single drop. Rotten luck might just be it but I'm curious about the actual statistics. If we can gather them, we can help each other as a community.

Some things that I've noticed are that I tend to find less or any foxes at all at night but again, I don't know if it's simple bad luck or if it's an actual game mechanic.

What are everyone else's experience with finding foxes and getting trophy or recipe drops? Let's try to compile some data.

The issue with trophy drops is that the enemy can’t be more than 5 levels below your lead, and, well, I’m almost level 20 :/

I’ve found 11 foxes in that range and I’ve gotten 1 Canine Claw and 1 Scar. Had better luck getting claws/fangs from wolves. I’ve been searching in the deciduous forest mostly because it only has gray/red foxes. Not that it would have mattered considering they’ve not given me any tails/pelts yet, but.

I’ve not noticed a difference in time of day, but it’d be pretty difficult to track and I don’t think other enemies vary by time or season, so it’d be a bit out of left field.

i haven’t collected any data, but the first fox i found dropped the base recipe for me. i paid 70gc for the eye recipe 😓

i’ll start keeping a spreadsheet of times of day, level, experience gained, area, and drops if any. most have only dropped meat chunks tho. and what trophy items i have, i got them well before the fox base was announced

Muirgeilt, I had no idea that the 5 level range was even a thing, that’s pretty unfair for high level players. I’m almost level 17 myself, hopefully the drop rate is changed soon to fix that dead end for level 20s. I really don’t want to have to spend money when the prices are cranked so high in the Trading Center, it’s already hard enough earning SC.

Do the recipes only drop as trophies (eg within five levels) or can you get one from any fox?

Honestly i dont remember. at the time i didn’t think to record it, i’m sorry. it happened the day the fox update was announced i was just excited to get the recipe as a drop 🥴

EDIT: i went back to my user log and the fox that dropped it was a level 12 gray fox. my lead is at level 13 (and was at the time of fighting this fox).

Fox trophies are so rare that I guess it'd take about a year of constantly fighting foxes to obtain enough ingredients for Tier III base applicator without buying anything from other players.

I'm gonna try to do it lol. hopefully my current stud doesn't die before then. i was willing to drop the gc for the eye recipe, but i'm not gonna do that for the other drops. it's very expensive. and when i do, i'll undercut everybody, bc 100gc to breed? they r out their damn mind.
