if you have read any of the books in the warrior cats saga, you'll notice where i took inspiration from for this. it's also inspired by a little bit of actual wolf behaviour too, tho not a lot.

my idea is that we should be able to train adolescent wolves to better their stats for a certain role, or in a way that they can do small tasks reminscent of these roles. it would make them a little more useful, since, in my opinion, adolescents don't serve a lot as of now, make the players more immersed and help lore players as well! even if you're not a lore player, it could be a way to better a wolf's stats for better chances of selling them, breeding or to make them prepared for whatever role you planned for them.

how this could possibly work:

- you would set the wolf's role as 'apprentice', either to an specific existing role or add another mechanic to choose that

- they would not grow up with that role but in adult version, so it wouldn't conflict with other wolves that have that role already and you could have more freedom of choice

- the tasks could consist in either adapted versions of adult ones but in a "lesser" form (e.g.: hunter apprentices could go hunting for a shorter ammount of time and only bring small prey, to show how irl wolves often train their younglings in a similar way) or they could normal tasks with certain restrictions (herbalist apprentices could forage for common herbs, but not rare ones, nor research or make recipes)

- it could take them more energy then adult wolves to do their tasks, since they are only learning and are still young

- you could maybe make apprentices for certain roles and not all? like maybe only hunting and scouting?

- apprentices could maybe join adult wolves in their activities and gain experience from that, which would translate in better stats, which mimicks wolf behaviour better

- once you gain your first adolescent wolf, you could get a quest from tala where she teaches you about the importance of teaching your wolves to survive and how every wolf matters in a pack

- this would be completely optional, once you learn how to do it you do not need to effectively use it

- changing and apprentice's role to learn another role will result in a one rollover cooldown for that role, much like when you switch roles in adults

if anyone has more suggestions for this or advice on how to develop this idea, i'd very much appreciate it! i don't think this is necessarily needed in the game, i just think it's a nifty idea to discuss and maybe open up to more ideas similar to this! thank you for reading this, it took me some work and i've been thinking about it for a while
