Do deleted wolves’ names stay in the lineage?

Title. I’ve noticed that parents’ names stay even if the wolf disappears, but I’m curious as to whether or not that goes back a few generations. And if a wolf’s (great(-great-)grandparents) are chased/deleted, will their links stay valid too or get grayed out?

Not sure if this is one of those modbox questions or if it’s answerable from breedings so far :o Thank you in advance!

I've seen that as far back as great-grandparents so far! It looks like the links to the family tree stay valid, even if there is then no link to the wolf itself, regardless of how far back.
