Increase (or remove) the monthly restriction of pair-bonded breedings

Posted 2020-12-22 14:13:43

"The problem with breeding slots will most likely be much more pronounced in bigger packs later on where even with rotating pairs there simply aren't enough slots in a year (24 slots, to be precise, meaning only 24 pairs can get bred in a single year. Wolves don't even live for that long!). This can mean that certain pairs will only be able to breed once or twice in their whole lifetime if even that!"

I just want to add that it is ironic that the more breeding pairs you create the less breeding from each pair you will be able to do. Do not get me wrong, in my opinion, this update is an awesome implement but it has room for improvement, as the original poster has already suggested.

Sorry, but correct me if I’m wrong....but if it’s two studs (only ever to one female) a month and the females cool down is 20 days, then a four day pregnancy...it should be a two day delay if the heats should ever line up just right. I don’t think that it will ever be that this will cut down a females overall litters?

Edit to my previous post that it occurred to me if a player never misses a rollover there will be two unused heat days in every month regardless, and this actually can cost the lost of a heat by the end of her life. So I do agree that the male cooldowns are redundant, he’s already restrained by his mates cooldowns.

So much support. I've been starting to wonder what's the point in being able to have pair bonds if you might have to use a stud to breed a female anyway due to the limit (this is assuming you're someone who breeds a female every heat she has, like me), especially since depending on when you got a wolf a lot of females' heats sync up pretty closely and they're always in heat within a few days of each other.

9999% support! I really don't get the point of the 2 pair-breedings a month limit. It's such a low limit, and the male pair-breeding cooldown is plenty restriction enough.  I really like the pair-breeding mechanic, and would like to breed only breed within pair for lore reasons, but I can't do that due pair-breeding limit.

Support. The limit is so intensely restictive it makes pair bonding barely a feature.

I would also like to support. With a 30 day cooldown for the male and a 24 day (not even including pregnancy) for females, that really does feel like restriction enough on Bond Pairs.

Support! Even if unlimited would be TOO freeing, I still think there should be a way to have more bonded pair breedings a month. For example, slots could increase naturally with pack size (say +1 per month for every 2-4 new slots).

I'm incredibly grateful for pair bonding because males were so useless before, but the reality is as my pack grows I will have to pick a small number of my pairs to actually breed and the others will end up simply being decorative pairs for lore, and with how selective I have to be already with my pack I don't really like further restrictioins.

I very much support this, though I admit the male cooldown that un-synchronizes him from his mate is more cumbersome to me, a small pack owner who plans to stay a small pack.

I support removing the cap, or at least making it larger. I would also like the see the pair bonded male's breeding cooldown lowered as well, as that restriction plus the cap is very limiting, especially since the male's cooldown will not match up with the monthly cap being reset. If you breed at the end of the month you have to wait until the end of the next month before you can breed him again anyways.
If you had a handful of bonded pairs, it could get difficult trying to keep track of male's cooldowns, female's cooldowns and heat cycles, and what pairs you want/can breed that month.
Personally I like this feature a lot as I am trying not to stud outside of my pack (and my pack breeding male kinda sucks right now, and I don't want all of my puppies to be related to him) but it feels highly restrictive.
