Woes of the Market

i think its not just a base problem but also just that we reaaally need new bases and marks, and the marks shouldnt be NBW gained. tamask raised some prices for a hot second, now imagine a marking with even higher rarity and pass rate. bingo. but the base is to blame too. new players arent catching onto how to gain SC besides pups and its a big problem. a great solution would be for the devs to add a game that gives SC, but that takes time. another option is the rewards for potatos, ofc. also, in my opinion, unless the devs intended for melanism and albinism to be more easily passed mutations.... the rates should lower. |

From what I can tell of Melas and Albinos there are incredibly hard to pass which is what I kind of like. Even with so many potential carriers being bred back to confirmed carriers or the mutations themselves the pass rate is so rare. |

ive noticed theres far less albinos than melanistics. i think people may have forgotten albinos exist, oops also weve not found brachy at ALL... i wonder if its just super SUPER rare, or possibly a glitch like with heterochromic eyes? |

The reason Albino is so far and few between is because the first confirmed albino from EA that was born at the same time as the first Mela died at a few rollovers old due to oversight from the owner. I don't know why the pairing that created it wasn't redone to attempt at producing another one but that is why there is fewer Albino. If the first one was still alive their population would be larger |

Been playing since day 1 and I don't even have t2s yet. My pups are IMPOSSIBLE to sell. There's no real cub/pup fodder area, so it's worthless to try |

Itβs not worthless. I personally donβt care for tiers. Just looks and stats.Β You just have to find the right crowd to sell to - even if the crowdβs small. |

Personally, I don't care about tiers. I can easily get a tier II wolf on my own. I look for stats & proficiency.Β |

Gonna chime in and say I think Scarlet's right here. The market is never gonna improve as long as people desperately try to sell every pup they produce. I mean, this is a pet breeding sim and all sims like this have this exact problem IME, but still. Until there's some kind of permanent sink for the excess pups that encourages as many wolves to be removed from the game as possible (not just one a day or similar), there will be no improvement to the market. Adding new variety will bump the market for the lucky few and then for the quick and wealthy, and then everyone will have the new and shiny and it will be as worthless as everything from before it. The idea that new variety will somehow 'fix' the market is shortsighted, imo. There needs to be some other change to the game to fundamentally change the value of wolves--tweak the SC situation, tweak den slots, tweak breeding rates and fertility, tweak wolf survivability, enable all males to breed (offering players incentive to fill den slots with more males and fewer females, resulting in fewer total litters of puppies being produced), providing an extremely appealing method of permanently removing wolves from the game, etc. Will all help the situation. I'm not trashtalking Wolvden for the record. The market doesn't honestly bother me, but then I don't generally breed for the purpose of selling to begin with either. This is just my opinion based on years of playing similar games. It's a pretty ubiquitous problem in the genre, the same way hyperinflation is pretty much ubiquitous across most/all MMO games. I don't really think the problem will ever be fully solved--though I think, as mentioned above, that there are a number of mitigations that could be applied to improve the situation--but I do think it's interesting to see how things develop within the economy.Β I think it's interesting that the Wolvden team appears to be successfully slowing hyperinflation of SC, but that hyperwolfflation is occurring instead. We all have ten billion wolves and need money, but money is too valuable to waste on wolves so we just all shove our wolves at each other hoping someone else will spend the money on our wolves. Arguably a lot of the problem is that in Wolvden, any wolves in your pack beyond your leader, breeding male, 5 hunters, 1 herbalist and 2 scouts, a couple of pupsitters and occasionally a replacement trainee for any of the above roles, wolves are a liability in the financial sense. They only cost you money (food @3SC per use, x2 per day, and toys @10sc per use, x...1? Per day, plus whatever the SC cost of their slot in the den, so basically plan around spending like 16SC per wolf per day) and do literally nothing to contribute to your gameplay. So, yeah, in the financial sense every wolf beyond the first 12 or so wolves in your pack is nothing but a financial lead weight sucking you down under water. Considering that, why WOULD anyone want to spend more money on a wolf if it wasn't absolutely spectacular? |

Thank you Kelly! You have quite a few good points yourself and one of the big ones is new markings and bases. Like you said they will just be a temporary bandaid on the bullet wound that is the market right now. What people NEED is an incentive to dump pups. Some raise pups until that 1yr age before chasing them which adds them into the pool for NBW and again we are running into that issue of wolves that aren't really worth much being dumped into another faction of the game. There for a while there was the Pup Parade which I have personally taken part of. It is a costly endeavor though for the player who runs it as the prizes are generally out of pocket for them. Unless other players who agree with what they are trying to do help out and offer up some valuable stuff from their own hoard as prizes to contribute and entice others to chase pups. Their biggest goals being pups with merle or Inuit markings with a x1, x2, ect bonus for pups with multiple merle markings. They were trying to help improve the merle wolf market and the market over all. We desperately need something like this permanently implemented into the game that isn't player ran. Something that would encourage players to enmasse start chasing and dumping pups long before they hit adulthood. Maybe a 1 to 2 time a month site wide thing. Were specific bases are desired which allowΒ for special bonus rewards but any chased pups can result in a small amount of sc or even tickets to a site wide raffle for special items/wolves/or currency bundles. Players can throw this tickets at these bundles/items/wolves and get a chance at winning. Similar to how the pup parade was ran. |
