Bring honor to your pack!

Out in the wilderness, the Moon Spirit awaits. Pack leaders from across the land choose brave young explorers to seek out the elusive Moon Spirit for glory and prizes!

What the frog am I talking about? This is just one pitch for some lore to solve a common conundrum:

Problem: Overpopulation of unwanted plain pups

Problem: Players don't want to chase pups - which is perfectly fine and normal, this is a sim game, forming an emotional bond with your imaginary animals is the point!

Solution: Provide incentive, without making players feel bad about deleting those poor pups!

So how might we solve this?

A site-wide contest that resets every month, wherein players are encouraged to give up their potatoes. This could even be a new revenue stream for the site, where you pay a GC fee to participate in each month's Moonseekers contest. Each time you submit a wolf, your Honor score goes up. The top ten players could receive or be entered in a lottery for some sort of exclusive prize, unique each month. There could also be random, minor prizes like food/toys each time you send away wolf - everybody loves random rewards, they're addictive!

My main point is that it would benefit everyone if there were a fun, encouraging way to give up unwanted wolves and feel positive about it.

The actual flavor of the lore behind this idea isn't the point of this post, so if you have a better idea for lore please brainstorm below!

yes please, similar to the lion claiming task randomly added in the other place, this could be added 'randomly' as well and benefit *everyone*. Newbies would have a good way 'out' of the newbie stage- ex. breeding super ugly unwanted potatoes and then saving for a better design for your...

ahh yeah anyways i like it itd benefit lots of ppl

Kind of reminds me of Flight Rising, in that you can send away dragons to support different teams. It's a good way to get rid of them, without the feeling that you're just banishing these dragons into the ether. I think that would translate pretty well into this game, especially if that attached some neat lore with it!

@turnipcats Yes! FR inspired the idea. I think they got it right, players need to feel good about removing them, else you end up with a flooded market like ours.

It also wouldn't be *too* difficult to code, since the core mechanics are identical to chasing + finding random items in explore.

It reminds me of FRs Dominance Mechanic but I do like that idea alot!

It would give pups a minimum value and also erase alot of data from the server through deleting all the worthless puppers nobody has the guts to chase :D

@Mythborn I suggested a monthly GC entry fee mainly as a replacement revenue stream in case the devs decide to change FAPA due to current complaints and need an alternative way to support the site. It could be as low as 1GC - or it could be free to all, but have a better prize pool if you decide to pay the entry fee, for example.

@Kieva Definitely! Feel free to brainstorm lore ideas, this was just random stuff off the top of my head :) I agree it would need a full-fledged backstory.
