I should start off by saying sure, you can salvage rotting meat for bones or exchange items for fragments and the general toy/food item. However, I'm talking about something a little bit different from this. On Lioden, when finishing up eating food your Lion has a small chance of gaining a stat point or certain items - such as feathers or bones - that is what I'm proposing be added!

Battle encounters:

A few lunar enemies drop corpses as trophies but I find that nearly, if not all, older enemies do not - I think that should change. I know we can already get meat chunks, but this would be a little bonus for users with higher levels. Similar to trophies, after killing enemies that have corresponding prey items (ie: Blacktail buck, Whitetail buck, Pronghorn) their's a low chance you can get a carcass from them instead of meat chunks. Since the carcass has been damaged from battle, it could theoretically have less uses than the standard prey item? These carcasses would have more uses than meat chunks and still be a helpful alternative way to get some of the quest items.

Items from items:

I know you can get bones from a rotting carcass, but where do the bones go for carcasses you simply consume? On LD you're sometimes able to get stats, mood boosts, or relative items randomly from eating food. For example, eating a rat would have a chance of dropping a rat skull. Perhaps even a lower chance of getting trophy items from certain prey (such as broken antlers from a deer). I always liked this little bonus on Lioden as it made just made the world feel a bit more alive and so I would like to see it present itself on WD as well.

  • Boar Carcass from Frenzied Razorback
  • Bighorn Sheep Ram Carcass from Bighorn Sheep Ram
  • Bison Carcass from Plains Bison or Bison Herd
  • Blacktail Carcass from Blacktail Buck
  • Caribou Bull Carcass from Barren Ground Caribou (Herd)
  • Crocodile Carcass from Morlets Crocodile

Item drop suggestion

  • Bighorn horns and bighorn skull from Bighorn sheep ram
  • Bison horn and bison skull from bison carcass
  • Blacktail skull from Blacktail buck
  • Boar skull from boar carcass
  • Horse Skull from Horse Carcass
  • Bone from ANY carcass
  • Caribou antlers from caribou bull carcass
  • Gnawing hoof from ANY hooved carcass
  • Swan feather from swan carcass
  • Gull feather from gull carcass
  • Grouse feather from grouse carcass

I think it'd be neat to get a trophy (food, toy, or neither) for defeating an animal that is "hard" or a few levels above you. Or would just naturally leave behind something when it dies.

I'd love to get antlers from various cervids I defeat, as I love those sorts of things in real life and would be ecstatic to be able to collect a bunch here! I'd also preferred if we got a sort of trophy when catching legendary fish. I like that the newt is a toy that won't rot and I can keep it for fun/hoarding, but I'm sad the others will rot. I haven't explored too much yet, but I think I've heard of walruses (or seals??) from other biomes, and it'd be neat to snag bear claws or walrus tusks if we beat an enemy.

Naturally, we can't ALWAYS get a trophy from winning. But it'd be super neat to get them. I have an issue of wanting to keep all the toys in my buried because they look nice and are things I'd totally collect irl. Maybe there's a low percentage of getting a trophy?
