Welcome to the beginning of PDAP Ancient Interactive Adoptables! As a big fan of D&D, prehistoric animals, and survival games, I've decided one of the better (if not best) ways to keep an adoptable fun and interesting is to give it a life of it's own. Here, joining the community, you'll be able to interact in a number of ways; from submitting art or writing, or even RP logs to events and activities that can give your character progression and growth. They can level up over time, become stronger with successes, fall weaker with failures, injuries and sickness, create packs and fill home base stores with things needed to survive. They can explore, craft, form lasting bonds, create families, all the while battling everything from the elements to opposing factions to each other. Throw yourself into the drama of this world, see through the eyes of your chosen character(s), and live another life in a mystical and changing land!

Currently available are two species based strongly off of real life ancient animals, Gorgonops and Microraptors. For the sake of the ARPG, they have undergone genetic mutations that opened their compatabilities to a wide range of markings, colors, and increased brainpower, rendering them intelligent to the level of sapience. Presently, other animals of the world are still simple, but these two do not mingle well and must struggle to share the resources and living space, as such things are finite. You can select a faction to stick with or play both sides, but alliances and truces between the two will likely be few and far in between.

--=-- RULES --=--

--= Adopt/Art Rules
- Only characters bought from the staff of PDAP that has been archived into the system are allowed to participate in canon and official activities.
- There may be multiple bases from multiple different artists up for sale. At all times, when you purchase a character, include credit where it is due for who made the original piece.
- You can re-sell, edit, add to, gift, trade, de-canonize, and use elsewhere any of the characters you purchase here so long as credit to the original design remains cited.
- Adopts will only be usable in the game if you choose the Canonized payment. Without it, you will have only the art and not the ID required to play. This is optional for those interested but not wanting to play. Canonization can be applied to a character post-purchase if desired.
- If you re-sell, gift, or de-canonize your adopt through a death, please inform the staff. There will be a Requests section that guides you through this.

--= Game Rules
- Main events are run by established Game Masters who drive the story. Do not assume the role of an NPC unless asked to prior to the event.
- Activities are more loose. You can assume the role of an NPC in art, writing, etc. so long as it follows the prompts given without going to far out into left field.
- By joining canon events, your character is at risk of disease, injury, and loss; you can lose progress through injury and will have to work to regain it.
- Upon buying a canonized adopt, it automatically grows from level 0 to level 1 and has 2 stat points that can be applied to its starter statistics. Choose wisely to start building your character!
- Character death is easily avoided. Originally only optional, I realized this could be exploited. Working a character too hard at its very extant remaining strength with injuries and diseases has a chance to really hurt or even kill the adopt. This only removes canonization and not ownership over the art.

Upon purchasing a canonized adopt, your character will automatically gain their first level! All adopts start as level 0, which the 0 stands for not active in-game. But, if you choose the canonized fee (which you can pay later if you decide to make a non-canonized adopt canon), the first level is free and you have two stats to apply to their base stats.

Unless otherwise stated beneath an adopt (IE: +1 STR, +2 INT following the Genome Code), all base stats will appear as below. Please note that these numbers are subject to change, as right now the stats for activities and events are very experimental in finding a fair and balanced method to the game that frowns upon and thus punishes minmaxing. All skills are equally important.

Starter Microraptor Stats
--=--

Gen 1 Raptors

Strength: 6
Dexterity: 10
Constitution: 7
Intelligence: 9
Wisdom: 9
Charisma: 6

Gen 2 Raptors

Strength: 4
Dexterity: 7
Constitution: 4
Intelligence: 6
Wisdom: 5
Charisma: 4
Starter Gorgon Stats
--=--

Gen 1 Gorgons

Strength: 10
Dexterity: 6
Constitution: 9
Intelligence: 6
Wisdom: 7
Charisma: 9

Gen 2 Gorgons

Strength: 7
Dexterity: 3
Constitution: 6
Intelligence: 4
Wisdom: 5
Charisma: 5

Like the statistics, leveling's number cap stops at 20. No stat or level should rise up beyond 20. Each level, you gain +2 stat points to add to your character's stats, and each upgrade needs to be reported to the moderators to have it officiated in the archive so we can keep track of your character. You get an extra point as a reward at the level 10 milestone, earning +3 instead of +2. Likewise, at level 19 and 20, you also receive +3 points for each.

Keep in mind that you can lose experience as well as gain it. Losing enough experience (EXL, Experience Loss) can remove a level from your character. This does not, however, remove your stats; it only lowers the number caps of your health, energy bar, ultimate bar, and increases recovery time. It is in this way that losing levels is like recovering from an injury; it takes time to recover what was lost.

--= EXAMPLE

Say a microraptor has gone hunting, and comes across another player's character, a Gorgon. They fail the roll to stay hidden, and the gorgon decides to take an opportunistic bite out of the raptor in favor of chasing it off and keeping that food resource to itself. The raptor's health bar is, let's say, 40, and earns 36 points of damage, bringing it to 90% of HP lost. This brings it to Category 9 HP. It can still choose to fight without risk of death, though at 100% of HP lost it will lose consciousness. Any injuries which take it to the C9 - C10 range are safe from risk of death.

However, if a fight or an accident -- say, slipping off a rock or taking a tumble -- happens while the microraptor starts off at category 9 to 10 damage, with only four points of health remaining, this is where the risk of character death comes in. The player must be very sure about doing activities and fights with their character stuck in this stage, for then they will be subject to the Death Chance dice. The only reason I have applied this rule is to make sure it can't be exploited to keep hunting and fighting without fear of death, and to give a valid reason why spending time and/or items to heal are necessary. Take activities at category 9 at your own risk.

Right?? Blye did an absolutely fantastic job with them. Right now we're working on how the genes/pass rates work, and stats, once those are done you'll defo start seeing some of them become available <3
