I'm just wondering if there's anyone here on Wolvden who does textile work!!

I myself haven't done anything yet, but I am starting my very first sewing project later on today. I plan on making a Regency-esque dress, which might be a bit beyond my skills but I'm optimistic!

What about others? What projects do you have going on (if any)? Any tips or anything? Share whatever you desire!!

I cross-stitch, and do a little bit of simple sewing! I made my girlfriend a blanket with the opening lines of her favorite books cross-stitched on it, and I've made a few little sampler-type things for some other people. Currently I'm working on a tapestry made up of the various pirate flags from One Piece (anime/manga about, naturally, pirates).

What's a Regency-esque? I personally have found that when it comes to crafts I like to just jump in, and if I don't have the skills for it when I start, I probably will by the time I'm done (even if I have to rip up a bunch of stitches on the way). Good luck!

That's really neat!! i haven't crossstitched much outside of school assignments, bud id love to try it again sometime. ive never heard of that anime/manga but i googled it and it looks neat, good luck on the project!!

I just realized I forgot to put the word dress after the word Regency-esque in the original post 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ but yes what i meant by that is a dress that is inspired by regency era fashion LOL

I got into sewing a little over a year ago. I haven't made much outside of a sleeveless cardigan and a few du-rags. My goal is to become proficient enough to make quality clothes like dresses and stuff. It's not easy but I really love the whole creative aspect of it and I'm an aspiring designer so I figured I'd have to know how to sew lol.

I've done crochet (self taught) and knitting in high school. I sort of dropped out of it after I graduated though I do have all my old stuff from it in a dusty box haha. And then this year I began sewing classes with a friend at a local rec center....but of course it ended up being canceled after the first class due to obvious reasons. However, i went out and purchased an affordable machine and materials! I attempted a small bag to hold dice, and some face masks. I am....not skilled, and learning on my own is difficult, but I hope to make something like my own cosplay one day!

I both sew and crochet as a hobby. I've taught myself to crochet via Youtube, and I had a mentor for sewing. I quite enjoy those hobbies; once you start crocheting you lose track of time, same with sewing! I'm crocheting a Team Fortress 2 blanket currently, and sewing my second skirt and a pillow (alternating between those 3 projects). It's great to see other people who still have those skills!

I give my knitting skills a 3/10 because it looks good and all but I can only do scarves lol. Crochet is a 7/10 because I have a drawer full of half-done projects I didn't have the will to finish. I think my sewing skills get an 8/10, points lost for the number of times I've stabbed my thumb with the needle. I have no idea how to use the machine though, so if anyone that comes by has some tips on that I'd love to hear them ^^

I sew and cross-stitch. I've also done quilting. Been sewing for a few years (my Gram taught me how), but I'm fairly new to cross-stitch. Trying to get into embroidery as well.

I've been sewing for about four years, usually to tailor my own clothes or make plushies. I've only done a gown once for a cosplay.

I would recommend to learn how to ladder stich. It is usually used to sew up holes without showing the thread on the outside.

I do a lot of crocheting, almost exclusively making stuffed animals. I usually enter my stuff in my county fair and sell at craft fairs. Unfortunately, we didn't have the craft fair this year, so I'm sitting on lots of plushes that need to gtfo.

I've been crocheting for almost 10 years I think. I taught myself from watching Youtube videos.

I tried getting into plush sewing when I was in high school, but I didn't like have to cut and measure out the fabric. I also didn't like using a sewing machine, so I tried to hand-sew all my stuff.  I like crochet for that reason. Sewing on the pieces is pretty easy, and I've gotten better at it. The stitches turn out a lot more uniform than any of my sewn plushes did lol.
