When I first started (in mountains) I'd always see options for large prey! Even though I had 0% synergy.

I've moved to riparian woodlands, and not it's just 70% critter and 30% small.. (53% synergy if that means anything)

Riparian Woodlands is a medium difficulty biome, whereas the Mountains are easy. That makes hunting harder, and your pack will need better synergy, stats, and proficiency to find bigger trails.

Oh damn, I didn't realize it made it less likely to see bigger trails. I assumed it'd just make succesful hunts less likely.

Yep it will get increasingly harder when you move to a harder biome. It's based a lot on stats, not synergy and proficiency.
