Enable/Disable Custom CSS On Individual Devices

Enable/Disable Custom CSS On Individual Devices
Posted 2020-11-13 18:31:52

Hi everyone!

So, today I was writing up some custom CSS for the whole site (obviously it only shows up locally), and I realised that when I was playing on my phone, the site would be mismatched (my den has CSS shown to everyone, but the rest of the site doesn't).

So, my proposal is this: Be able to enable/disable custom CSS per device, rather than per account. Instead of disabling all CSS for the entire site for the entire account, we would be able to enable/disable it from the 'Manage Devices' page. I think this option would be beneficial for a variety of reasons:

  1. It would allow players with finicky mobile devices to still enjoy CSS on their PCs without changing their settings all the time.
  2. It would create a larger market for custom CSS, which would stimulate the Wolvden economy.
  3. It would promote creativity by learning/implementing code in players.
  4. It would allow those of us who dislike mismatched things (like custom CSS in some places but not others) to have more control over what we see and how we see it.

Now, I understand that we don't yet have a enable/disable CSS button, let alone a per device feature, but I wanted to get my proposal out there sooner rather than later.

I, admittedly, don't know much about coding games, but I don't think this would be too difficult to implement. I think it would be easiest if this setting preference was stored in the individual device's cookies in some way, although I'm not entirely sure how that would work, as I am a hobbyist, not a developer.

Thank yall for taking the time to read and consider this suggestion!

Support 100%!

While my phone isn't against custom CSS and runs just fine with it, I am not too interested in seeing it. Their are some totally nice ones out there, but their are also some that are poorly made, bright, and hard on the eyes.

Sometimes I go to interact with someone who has sale wolves or something but I get to their den and due to their font I'm unable to make out a lick of the names. Then some CSS completely blends in with the custom background and makes it impossible to read - this was pretty common with the Christmas gifting especially. Overall CSS is kinda sucky to have as it can negatively effect someone with poor CSS, fancy unreadable CSS.
