Friend! We are here!

The voice seemed to almost echo inside her skull, doing little to ease the pounding headache that already throbbed terribly in her temples. "Did you here that?" She asks, one hand coming up to rub her temples absent-mindedly. She couldn't tell where the voice was coming from, but it sounded almost frantic. Scared even. But who or what could be speaking in such a manner? She takes another cautious step forward onto what appeared to be an elevator of sorts. The voice seemed to be coming from the platform up ahead, where what appeared to be the body of an elf strewn across a strange looking chair.

She wasn't sure that she trusted whatever could communicate in such a manner... but she supposed that it couldn't hurt to check it out at least. Whatever it was... if it was in a place where it required help then it couldn't currently be much of a threat. Nothing in here had made any move to attack them yet either, not even that little brain on legs.

Saege nodded slowly, a pained expression crossing her face. She lifted her hand to hover just above her temple, as if trying to soothe an ache that lingered there. "I do..." she said softly, her voice trailing off as her eyes seemed to look far beyond the moment. After pausing for a moment to shake off the disorienting feelings that had clouded her mind, she finally gathered her resolve.

Cautiously, she stepped onto the elevator, its surface warm and oddly textured, reminiscent of flesh. The dim light cast eerie shadows around her, heightening her sense of unease. She turned to her companion, a hint of curiosity sparking in her eyes. "Would you like to take a look at it?" she asked, her voice steady despite the unsettling environment surrounding them.

"It can't hurt I suppose... if whatever it is feels the need to call out for help, then I cannot imagine it could be much of a threat." Casey says as she steps up to the apparatus of sorts towards the front of the elevator. She presses a hand to the weird console, trying to ignore how slimy it felt to the touch. The platform they stood on began to move upwards at a steady pace towards the platform where the voice had come from.

Curiosity killed the cat or so some would say. But hopefully this would not be one of those situations. She would very much like to survive whatever this was. Once she got out of here, whoever was responsible for all this had better hope she wasn't able to find them. This felt like some sort of cruel joke. She didn't even know how she got here.

Saege carefully lowered herself from the platform and approached the exposed brain. The.. 'creature' lay twitching inside of the skull. Saege's eyes scanned the surroundings for any signs of danger, her instincts heightened as she moved to one side of the elven body to look at the creature. Every instinct screamed alertness, urging her to remain cautious.

Gazing at the pitiful creature, she felt a pang of sorrow mixed with fear. "What could have done this?" she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. The thought lingered in her mind like a dark cloud, and she wondered aloud, "Is this how we would have ended up?" The chilling question echoed in the silence, as she contemplated the grim fate that could've awaited them both, and possibly others.

"Nothing with good intentions... that much I think we can say for certain." Casey mutters, leaning over the elven corpse to get a better look at the creature twitching inside what remained of the elf's skull. It looked kind of like one of those brains that had scuttled by earlier. "I don't know... perhaps. But I don't think we should stick around here for long enough to find out what whomever brought us here is planning our fates to be." She says. They needed to get out of here, wherever here happened to be. "I suppose we could probably help this poor creature first though." She says, reaching forward to take hold of the slimy creature.

Planting her feet, she gives one harsh tug, freeing the creature from the remains of the skull. Whatever it was, it sat placidly in her hands as though trying to gain it's bearings. It would be a perfect opportunity to... no, what was she thinking? This creature had done no wrong to her. There was no reason to inflict upon it the same fate as her own ruined brain. It should be spared that fate. She could save that energy for whomever inflicted this fate upon her.

Saege had just nodded, watching as Casey pried the brain from the skull. Saege then stepped closer, drawn by curiosity. She tilted her head slightly, her silver hair cascading over one shoulder, an unspoken question evident in her dark eyes. "Why would they do this to someone?"

She lifted her gaze, her pulse quickening, as the entire ship convulsed violently again, the walls trembling. Outside, something akin to thunder rumbled like a furious beast, and ash floated in through the large entrance. "We need to start heading out," she urged, her voice steady despite the chaos around them, determination fierce in her expression as she braced herself against the tremors.

To the helm! We are going to the helm!

The creature's shrill voice rings through her head as the little brain creature jumps down to the floor from her hands just as the ship shook violently again. "Certainly... I'm not sure how much more this ship can take." Casey says, her mismatched eyes following the little creature. It had scuttled some distance away, but now it seemed to be waiting almost expectantly.

Perhaps it wanted them to go to the helm as well? It had said that 'we' are going to the helm. That seemed to imply that it expected them to come as well. And perhaps the helm was the best place for them to go. Maybe they could gain control of the ship.

Saege stepped after the creature, her eyes watching the almost unnatural movement of the scuttling as she stepped back onto the tear-shaped elevator. She looked over her shoulder at Casey, "We might as well follow, What should we call you..?" She turned her head to the brain, a certain fondness in her eyes.

Us. We are Us!

Saege just nodded, acting like a 'talking' brain is entirely normal, "We might as well follow Us, then." She stood near the apparatus,  seemingly waiting for Casey to step onto the elevator before doing anything.

"We have nothing to lose in doing so, I suppose. Maybe if we can get control of this thing, we can land it safely before it takes too much more damage." Casey says, stepping back onto the teardrop shaped elevator. There was no telling what might await them in the helm, but they would deal with whatever they found when they got there.

As for the little brain creature... Us as it seemed to be named for reasons beyond her scope of knowledge, well it had made no move to harm them. So long as it remained friendly so far. As off putting as a walking brain was, it might yet prove a helpful ally.

(I'm sorry for the really late response, this week's been really busy)

As the teardrop-shaped elevator came to a halt with a soft hum, Saege stepped off. She made her way to the expansive opening ahead, where a scene of chaos unfolded. The air was thick with smoke and ash, casting an eerie haze over the caverned sky. Flames flickered and danced across a scorched landscape, illuminating twisted remnants of what once was. The heat radiated from the ground, making the world feel alive yet utterly hostile. Saege braced herself as she took in the sight of the burning hellscape, every detail etched vividly in her mind.

"We should move," As she spoke, a colossal red dragon drifted majestically across the sky above her, its vibrant crimson scales shimmering like molten lava in the firelight, "Gettin' to the helm is our main priority, right?" She turned to Casey, her gaze steady and searching, as she awaited a response.
