Beginner's (bad) luck?

Beginner's (bad) luck?

Hey all,

I might suck at this game lol.

Predicament: sick wolves, no herbs, not enough SC to buy remedy, hunters keep failing 90% of the time, can't gather enough food to feed the pack.. It looks like I'm on a path to "losing" the game. I have no idea how to dig myself out of the hole. I only have 6 wolves and it's not enough to fill all the roles AND have more hunters. My herbalist can't find the herbs I need and the scout takes so long to finish discovering a new territory.

I'm stuck! Any ideas what I can do? What happens if you get down to 0 SC and lose all your wolves to sickness?

Thank you!

-> Keep foraging as much as you can to get common herbs from your biome and then use the exchange method to get the herbs you need. Also, guarantee your sick wolves in the same cave and have healthy wolves be on another one so it doesn't spread.

hunters keep failing 90% of the time, can't gather enough food to feed the pack

-> It's winter, so hunting is harder atm. But just keep doing hunting as much as you can't get them gain proficiency. When you get new wolves, make sure they don't clash with your current hunters. Stoic and romantic personalities clash, and friendly and aggressive clash.

I recommend you to go check this explore encounter guide to be selective on which things to choose on explore to get items you need more. That is a good way to "hunt" for food on explore, and for now. Don't inspect poops and don't eat rotting "red" food, it might make your wolves sick. Salvage rotting food for bones instaad.

If that doesn't help, seek our forum threads where people are donating food.

Also, if things get rough (as they clearly have) scouts aren't really necessary to keeping the pack on its feet. If their personalities mesh, it may be best to add your scout to your hunting party until you get back on top of things. And as Kahvinporo said, check out the 'items' forum under stockpile. You'll find a lot of people willing to donate food, toys, herbs, and sometimes even illness remedies.

I'd actually suggest rescouting instead of scouting new territories. Rescouting gives 2 amusement items that can help with your pack or you can sell/trade them for food.

It's not bad luck, thats literally how that game's apparently designed to be. I find it frustrating as hell, but better prepare to be broke for the first two weeks ingame. (Doesn't help the hunt success rates barely and the wolves always getting sick rates never get better.)

Your main income for food and sc is exploring with your main wolf and trading 1 use items in. :(

Thanks everyone for your replies. Taking advice and attempting to get things going again for my pack. Appreciate you all!
