Rarity?

Is the little star titled 'rarity' showing up on a wolf when you're trying to befriend it new? I dont see that as a change in the news, but it's the first time I've seen it, I thought I'd come across a really special wolf, but I cant see anything special about it.. am i just missing something? https://www.wolvden.com/wolf/645146  this the wolf in question, if anything it's kinda subpar with stats..

A shooting star, rarity 6 wolves, mean that it was a chased wolf. You unlock this at lvl 10.

And when your lead hits 15, you get a chance to come across other special NBW's on the wild and they will have one star or more to show how many "rare traits"/nbw exclusive they will have.

Ohh, I see.. is there a scale of rarity then? Like, rarity 5 or rarity 1? Or is that the thing I get at level 15? If so,  1 star would be the best? Or are those stars a different thing from the shooting star? 

Shooting star is called "Rarity 6" but it has nothing to do with rarity. It's just the name devs gave to that icon. As Kahvinporo said, it appears on chased wolves (you can find them after lv 10). Right now, most chased wolves look like and are normal NBW, because most players chase them.

From level 15, you can start to find rarer NBW with exclusive markings or bases. Rarity 1 (one star) is the lower grade of rarity while Rarity 5 (5 stars) are the best one that usually means NBW have special bases and special markings

I would think chased wolves would have something less.. special for an icon? The shooting star made me think it was special/rare, I feel like itd make more sense to give them an icon that signifies being chased/outcasted, maybe like, a pawprint, or a red flag or something?
