Seasonal Encounters!

Support this! As yeah it feels a bit odd to encounter bears and snakes during winter it’d make more sense to make them more rare to find and change it so you find them while their hibernating a.k in caves and under logs.

love this idea!

maybe there could also be encounters during spring or summer with bird nests where you can try to snatch the eggs or something similar, could also add a chance the parent bird will attack you for trying. just a few ideas, i don't know if these exist in any biome

Oh, these ideas are all great! I’ve added as many as I can to the first post ^^ keep ‘em coming!

Tentative support- I like the idea of more season-specific events, especially since the raccoon encounter already changes based on season

However! If so I think questing needs to account for this. It would be, well, painful and absurdly annoying to get a "kill three bears" quest during winter if the bear encounters are completely gone or heavily reduced

This is something that would be nice

@Lesbirds I definitely think that’s something to take into consideration! I’ll add that to the first post ^^

  • "Finding snakes as they hibernate, under logs or in rocky crevasses" just wanted to correct that snakes do NOT hibernate. They go through a process known as burmation. They still wake up, drink, eat, ect occasionally. I feel like snake, frog, turtle, and crocodile encounters should also appear in winter but be significantly decreased and maybe enemies could get a tired debuff automatically?
  • Other animals who hibernate and who's encounters could be limited / removed for winter seasons are: bats, most rodents (squirrels and chipmunks), hedgehogs, and snails.
  • Insects will hide so please make wood lice less common in Winter.
  • Bees will die in the Fall when temperatures drop, so perhaps we can get an encounter with an empty hive and you can be opportunistic and Investigate what's inside. This would replace the bumblebee encounter for winter times.
  • For Fall we could get an Encounter with squirrels or chipmunks gathering and hoarding food.
  • For fall we could get caribou herds migrating for the winter.
  • Maybe a snake mating ball in spring? Essentially a bunch of male snakes piled over top of each other to try to win the female.

Oh that sounds cool! I'd support that.
