Claircognizant does not mean seeing the dead. It is the ability to passively acquire psychic knowledge without a distinct sensory imput- or without knowing the how and why you got it. So basically, you just know things sometimes. You suddenly have an awareness of information you rightfully shouldn't have a way to know.

Seeing the dead, or mediumship, is generally a seperate thing which can take form as a sort of spin-off of other psychic abilities. Such as:

Clairaudience; the ability to recieve psychic information through auditory input. Usually like hearing a conversation before it occurs. In terms of spirit work, hearing the spirit's voice.

Clairvoyance; recieving psychic information through visual imagery.

Or Clairsentience; psychic input in the form of feeling. Such as feeling the presence of a spirit or feeling it touch you.

Ambrose, I think necromancy is what you're refering to, in terms of being a "death witch". Necromancy in technical terms is a form of divination via the dead. But these days it has taken on a broader meaning to encompass working with spirits of the dead and deities of death in general. Things on the, "If it's dead I can work with that", spectrum.
