Limit the Number of Scouts Per Day

Hello everyone. I made this suggestion because it has come to my attention that this game is possibly making people do unhealthy things for the sake of stats and levels. Someone mentioned in another thread that they were waking up in the middle of the night (roughly every 1hr and 40 minutes, I believe) in order to set up scouts. Sleep is super important and anything that disrupts sleep cycles can lead to a slew of health problems (cognitive decline, memory deficiencies, etc.) No game should encourage someone to harm themselves over it.

Scouts are specifically the issue, I believe.
You can set up the herbalist to make many medicines over night and hunters can only hunt 10 times a day.

While this may be unpopular, my proposal is simple: limit the number of scouts per day to say 5 scouts per scout (so both scouts can scout 5 times each). Obviously this might require some adjustments.

Not sure about this one.

While I agree that people shouldn't ruin their health for something like a browser game and I find a bit excessive to wake up during the night just to scout, I'm afraid that it's their own choice. Just like there are players that are okay with spending thousands of dollars in premium currency because they want to have better looking wolves or level up their lead faster than the others. Or explore every hour to get items and food.

There is no mechanics in the game that force you to grind. Everything is achieveable with a bit of patience but everyone is free to play the game the way they want, at the pace they want, making their own decisions about their life and about the time they spend playing.


I'm not totally against a limited number of scouts, but only if it's a decision made because it's a mechanic that makes the game not balanced for some reasons.

I support.

Always found it a little odd that all the other roles have a sort of limit, but scouts are basically limitless if you plug them w/ guarana. Perhaps the # of scouts can be tied to scout proficiency. Minimum of 5, maximum of 10?

In my opinion, if people want to make poor choices, that's their own fault. I know it might be harsh but they will learn from it sooner or later.

i don't support. 
i do know sleep is important. 

people will make their own choice. if they want send out they scouts as soon as they can. they should be able to with a limit per day.

No support - there are too many different playstyles to save all people from unhealthy choices without unreasonably restricting some people.

Without guarana but with playing all day, you can do 6 full scouting runs (one overnight), or a lot more than that if you're scouting at 20% to get more proficiency points.  With guarana you can of course do even more than that!  I think ten full runs a day, or more if you're doing short ones.  And on the other hand, some people have work/etc during the day and can't play nearly as much. So if you made the limit 5 or 6, some people (who are doing shorter runs or using guarana) would run out halfway through the day, and other people (who are busy during the day) might still wake up at night to get their 5 or 6 runs done.

You can't save people from doing unhealthy things for games and I really don't think there's much point in trying. Sure sleep is super important, but you're not going to force people to sleep by changing a game setting.

i agree with you. 

people will have different play styles.  

i don't think it is fair to limit the amount of scouts per day to save all the members from a lack of sleep.

I agree that sleep is important! But Scouts being limited in that way, ehh. Not a fan, and they wouldn't even be the 'biggest offenders', so to speak: Hunters might only have 10 hunts a day, but you can have unlimited hunters, so a lot of people have multiple teams and a half-hour wait is a little more tempting to stay for than the Scouts being out for over two.

No support for every reason lifted above. 

1.What you are suggesting will not solve the problem. Every system of the game can be abused in a similar way. You can stay up late to wait for your lead wolf's energy to re-energize, for your hunting party to recharge, for your herbalist to forage. 

2. Scouting is already limited by the number of hours it takes to scout a region, the amount of energy a wolf has, and the fact that there can only ever be 2 scouts at a time.

Sleep is important, but this will not encourage less of this behavior and will only serve to frustrate the majority of players who do not engage in it.

i agree with you. 


if my scouts had a limit. this would frustrate me. as i'm trying to send my scouts out as often as i can in a day. 


limiting the number of times a scout and go scouting will not solve the problem. 

sleep is important for the health. this will not encourage  less of the behavior.
