show penalty/boost to puppy survival check - it doesn't work the way we think it works!

I think it really does need to get included in the visible survival bar info, not just in a quest/tutorial - people skim/forget tutorials all the time, and it's really natural to see a "100% survival chance" puppy and assume it's safe.  Visible game information shouldn't be misleading, even accidentally.

I'm literally losing my mind. I managed to get all the puppies I desperately wanted at like, 95% because items are so hard to come by, and most of the pups died. It's unnecessarily hard to keep my pups alive. It's getting really frustrating and I don't want to sound like a Karen at all but it's affecting my enjoyment of the game.

Gotta admit I came searching this section of chatter specifically to see if anyone was having the same issue of multiple pups dying despite the survival bar being at 100%, cuz I was half ready to report it as a bug lol. I understand what's happening now that I've read your explanation, but nevertheless I totally agree that the understanding of pup survival should be WAY more intuitive.

I have also lost multiple pups after simply being at a long shift at work and not logging on that day. I still really love this game and I'm having a blast, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't really bummed about losing so many of my little guys without really knowing why or how.

EDIT - Now that I'm thinking about it, for the latest pup I lost, the death notification said it died due to an untreated injury, and that perhaps I should have been more attentive to it? However, at the end of the previous rollover, there was absolutely no indication of any sick/injured wolves in the pack. Anybody know if this was just flavortext, or if I missed something?

Adjusting survival before the death roll is pretty counterintuitive, imo. Also now I’m curious - are rollover illnesses rolled before survival? Because that’s bound to lead to problems.

Huh, that's also a good question... If an illness lowers the mood or something and then that causes a survival penalty...

Or if a wolf at low hp contracts a deadly illness, that’s a huge problem. 😬
