Male wolves have vertility levels

Male wolves have vertility levels

Male wolves would have virtility levels similar to female wolves.

Breeding pairs of wolves with lower fertility/virtility would have higher chances for mutations.

The rankings for virtility and fertility would be the same.

If anyone else has any ideas, feel free to add on.

Do you mean virility?

I think it would be interesting; it would definitely make sex-changing more clear since you could predict fertility (within a margin mabye).

I think that's a good idea, especially since in reality a male's virility/fertility would affect the health of the offspring quite a bit. Maybe, it could have a different mechanic than with females: vitility of a male can decrease overtime, giving players another incentive to not retire their stud, just so he has a higher chance of passing a mutation. Doesn't mean all males should start with Very Good virility and decrease to Infertile. They can start anywhere from Very Good to Bad and decrease to Very Bad and Infertile.

this'd be great for when they (i assume eventually) add hybrids as well, as most extreme hybrid males cannot reproduce. really it'd work great for harsher mutations too. would add value to males

Interestingly male wolves all do have a hidden fertility level that d9es nothing as far as we know. This would make adding this feature pretty easy as it's all half there.

No support. It would just make breeding more annoying, and not in an interesting way.

Suppose you get the perfect wolf to be stud (base, marks, stats, whatever you like) but he has low virility. It'd be a headache every time you wanted to breed him, especially since the female may not have great fertility either. (For example, say the male and the female both have 30% fert; that's not even super low, but it would mean a 9% chance to get pregnant on any given try.) It's not an interesting game challenge either; it's just a waste of energy and having to click the breed button a whole lot of times.

Rather than altering success rate, since fertility already does that, maybe virility can alter the chances for different litter sizes? For example, a high virility male would be more likely to sire larger litters, while a low virility male would sire smaller ones. I'm not sure what could be used as a benefit for low virility males to keep it balanced (an additional chance for mutations on top of the female's, or maybe a pup survival rate bonus?), but changing litter size instead of success rate would keep from wasting time and energy.
