How to get the NPC Achievement?? *Answered!*

Hello!
I'd really like to get the Event Achievement:
10 Things I Hate About You
Reach -30 affection with an NPC.

But I'm stumped.  Because NPC will not date you if you have a -20 affection rating with them, and I'm just not sure how to balance that?? I have one NPC at -18, but??

Any tips?

The only way to get to -30 is by giving disliked gifts.

I've done that, but then it dips below -20 and I can't do anything anymore.  Or... hmm.  Can I still give gifts if they're below -20?  I know I can't date them anymore, but can I still give gifts?  Sorry- I completely forgot about that!  That would be really helpful if I can haha

You can still give gifts below -20! It's just much slower going than gifting + dating.
