Wasn't sure where to post this but this question has been bugging me since I started playing. The only reason I ever have for doing the enclave quest is if it's required by another quest, which got me thinking if my approach to doing them is wrong because there is no benefit whatsoever. The chance that I'll have pups that fit the requirements is next to none and it's unlikely I'll want to have them deleted. And sometimes the pups in TC can be a *little* cheaper than the reward.

i believe it's handy for people with huge packs - another way of getting rid of your pups easily on top of just leaving them at the Enclave normally (without a quest involved in it). when you breed a lot of puppies, it's likely you'll end up with lots of "potatoes". so it's likely you'll have a decent amount of puppies that you won't be able to sell. the puppy quest rewards you with 25sc per pup, and you can do it three times a day, so if you submit your own puppies that you think you won't be able to sell, you'll end up with a little profit each day. compared to the 3-6sc you can get with just leaving a puppy at the Enclave normally.
also, it has been confirmed that some day WD developers are going to change this system so that instead of SC it reward you with a special currency that can be used in a special Mother Bear shop! it's unknown when this will be implemented, though.

That explains quite a bit thank you! I'm nitpicking but I wonder if it's worth making a suggestion to remove enclave quests from melvin's missions as it seems like a useless feature for smaller/newer packs, in its current state, even more inconvenient to have as part of daily quests.

You can also buy pups to fulfill your Enclave quest, though you should never pay more than 25sc for each one. The Enclave is just another way to remove unwanted pups from the game. Yours or someone else's.

I think it's more a way to give some value to potato pups, even if a very low value. And it helps newbies learn the values of different eyes, bases etc and how to work the TC
