Community Update #129

I'm extremely disappointed to learn that I won't be able to use most of the event decors now because I can't afford the jellyfish.

This year, and for future years, you will not be receiving one-use Translucent Jellyfish when claiming the decors—this was exclusive to 2023 only.

I hate to be "that guy", but I am not a fan of this change. Not everyone who plays this game can afford to pay real money for it. It feels pretty uncool to essentially lock event rewards behind a paywall. This is essentially forcing players to pay a real-money tax if they actually want to use the rewards they earned through playing the game naturally.

It feels especially unfair to newbies, who are the people who are most likely going to be the ones wanting to use those decors the most. And they aren't going to be able to afford to earn them through playing the game naturally, as they don't know the market and probably don't have an amazing stud. If I was a new player, I would find this pretty upsetting if I couldn't use these wolf decors without paying real money, and it would probably turn me off buying currency entirely, if not WD as a whole.

If you do the math, it breaks down to literally over a dollar per wolf of real-world money just to use an item which people have already earned - which would be over 30 dollars if someone wanted to have all the wolves in their pack at once.

I don't see what was wrong with the old system - or at the very least, giving people 5-10 free jellies so people could at least use some of their favorites. It feels quite exploitative and mobile-gamey, for lack of a better word. I'm very disappointed to see this change, I thought Wolvden would be above this sort of thing.

Makes no sense to not get jellyfishes to use the decors.

The decors are basically even more worthless now because you have to pay to use them.
It's a stupid managing decision imo but what do I know.

It'd work better if Eranthis gave out one 1-use jellyfish per storyline. That way people could at least use two decor each year, if they wanted.

Still not the best, but worlds better than freemium decor.

Oh man, this ^.

This is the first time I'm experiencing this event due to hiatus, and I was very excited to use MOST of these decors because I love the way a lot of them look. This is very disheartening because now I don't see the point?

Idk, I like it how they had it last year.
The decors are janky as is (The avatars don't sit properly when viewing a wolf from the den page).
Why would people want to play an event for nothing ?

Yeah I'm not buying 64gb worth of grove items for something that's supposed to be a REWARD for maxing affection...why even give out the reward if it's just going to rot in most player's hoards?

It's not really worth it to actually get the decors if we don't get the jellyfish simply because I know nobody that would pay 4 GC for something that was supposed to be a reward.
