The Too Many Puppies Problem

The Too Many Puppies Problem
Posted 2020-11-02 13:21:24

So I've been playing Wolvden for a couple weeks now since it's official launch, and one of the things I told myself at the beginning was that I'd try not to get too many wolves in my pack at once so I'm not overwhelmed with having to feed and keep the mood up of everyone, never mind illness. Just enough to do my daily things efficiently while leaving plenty of room for hunting for special BNWs when I hit lv 15. My plan, mostly, had been to breed at a slow enough pace that I can keep up with the puppies well and try to find good homes for the ones I don't end up keeping.

That was....the PLAN, anyway. Until my first pregnant female outside of the tutorial quest (my scout Crimson, bless her soul), surprised me with a litter of a whopping four puppies after I'd been 1) gifted one from a friend 2) bought a second (and third) in a moment of weakness and 3) still had one adolescent in my pack from my tutorial breeding.

And that is how I now have 8 puppies/adols with only 1 open pack slot to figure out what to do with before they all grow up. I love Wolvden's generally slow method of breeding compared to some other games but that's only when you don't accidentally end up with the puppypocalypse you weren't planning for...

Does anybody have any funny breeding related stories? OR...LIKE...IS ANYONE IN THE MARKET FOR A PUPPY BECAUSE I HAVE SOME...JUST SAYING...(seriously though if anybody is interested, Dune, Winter, and Forrest need homes in my pack once they're weaned, just make literally any offer and I'll hold them for you)

Aw man good luck with all those pups (Blue is super cute btw!!!)! I've luckily been able to stave off that problem by being super picky with what wolves I buy and breed (this helps when your wolves don't have many markings anyways). I mostly want to expand my pack through cool NBWs

I almost let all three of my girls breed when they went into heat at the same time because I was excited about puppies... Really glad I didn't! The one I did breed had four puppies and my pupsitters would not have been able to handle more than that. As it is, I can't bring myself to chase anyone, so unless I get some offers I need to buy some more space to keep them all. Ah, puppy fever. Who knew it would get me as bad in a game as it does in real life.

I have four wolves pregnant right now, which is not good news. One gives birth tomorrow, the other the day after that, and then the last two the day after that. There is no way I’ll have the room for them if they grow up in my pack. What if there’s four or more puppies in a litter too, it’ll be puppy galore.

MAN YEAH I VERY NEARLY bred more of my wolves because I had like...4 of them in heat at once and now that I've had a surprise 4 puppy litter I am SO glad I didn't haha. I have no idea what I would have done barring just chasing the majority, which I absolutely don't want to do unless it's a last resort. I like to at least try to get them to other people who can enjoy them first.

I should have thought about this, but females in heat...

My second breeding ever gave me 6 puppies. I chased one but the other 5 are actually pretty nice...aaand I have 2 girls giving birth tomorrow...and another one shortly after.

What have I dooooone?!

I just had this happen where my pack was flooded with puppies. Pretty much all my females went into heat right around the same time and I had to turn half of my wolves into pupsitters. I was able to auction off most of the pups (except two that I ended up keeping and a few that I chased) so I could free up my den as soon as they turned 2 and 1/2 months old.

Sigh. I’m having this issue currently! I’m trying to put a lot of them up for sale, but a lot of them are also starter pups, so it’s hard to get rid of them.

I have 10 alive puppies, 5 adolescents, and 4 more pups to come, as well as 12 pack members, and I've only been on here for 12 days.

This has been my problem, too!

I buy too many Tier II puppies, and then I have to rush to find the SC to get a slot before they grow up. The situation has been slightly more manageable in the past few days. My solution is to just put them up for sale for cheap and they end up getting sold, otherwise, I put them up for auction in my auction thread, but that doesn't really seem to work as much.

If I absolutely have to, I buy another slot until I can figure out what to do with them.
