Community Update #117

@Celtic Ravens: as a disclaimer, I haven't actually played Lioden and only know of how karma functions through googling and game development threads here on Wolvden. I agree that a dev-made explanation of how karma works would be great to have as an addition to the poll!

I agree - I never played LD and I have absolutely no idea what karma does and how it affects the game. All I saw in general was how much people dislike it so I worry this may affect a lot of people's playstyle. I wouldn't want to make an asshole out of my lead (already had to for the sake of personality bonus) just because there are better rewards (?) on the bad side.

It would be nice if developers could explain how exactly it works so we actually know how to vote. A lot of people will probably mindlessly click yes because "hehehehehe new stuff ". Without it, based on what I saw thus far about LD karma my vote would be simply "no thanks"

I think in the future whenever some feature from Lioden is mentioned, y'all should reference what and how it works because a decent amount of us don't play Lioden.

This game is already pretty complex as it is now. While I personally don't mind a karma system, I feel like branching our interactions between "good" and "evil" choices would result in an obvious factor of limitation, in a game about predator animals attacking or killing others for basic survival. I wouldn't want good vs. bad choices or my lead becoming "evil" for the chance of a different set of items or perks, just because I choose to steal food or annoy another animal for fun in an encounter.

Something like factions in the Cryptid event are a good example that come to mind about having a positive, neutral, or negative alliance without affecting my playing style. That being said, my vote is going be a tentative no until we have a better idea how it could be implemented on WD.

As someone who plays Lioden, i DO NOT want good/neutral/evil karma system, I don't dislike it, but I don't want to have to worry about whether something is a good or bad action. Although I voted not to add it, if the results are yes, one idea I have is that it be an instinct/reason system If your wolf is more instinctive in his actions (doing wolf things, yk kill hunt etc) Or more reasonable or compassionate, helping other animals.
This idea was formed thanks to one of the commenters who said that the "bad" decisions we make in explore seem like something a wolf would normally make

I second getting an explanation for karma. I picked "no opinion" since I don't know enough about what that would look like to say yes or no.

I wouldn't hate a good/evil karma system like lioden because I do think that's still enjoyable. But I think the idea of the system has a lot of potential to be way more nuanced and interesting than that, I liked Naava's Idea!

I have always wanted the karma system but now I don't know. I voted yes. I feel like in lioden you get better rewards for being evil. What would be the benefit of being good or bad? Bonus content or encounters? Wouldn't effect anything stat wise like how lucky you are?
I want karma, but something different. More transparent about rewards for being good or bad
