I seen this being chatted about in main and was struggling to understand what the issue about it was I'm Scottish so perhaps my perception is ever so slightly different than people in Ireland in heavily more cultured areas than I am however the area I live still has ties with incredibly Gaelic culture and language roots.

However from my view I've never noticed anything wrong with Coigreach I think people fail to understand yes the event may perhaps be culture appropriation In some aspects however not all appropriation Is negative appropriation

Coigreach to me is Appreciative Appropriation some aspects of the event may have tidbits that are wrong and are maybe amplified to seem more exciting to the user however none of it is done In a way to hurt the culture as a whole or to bring hate. All Wolvden is doing is showing off the culture and history of the British isles and what folklore and stories, creatures, and sorts were featured throughout the time the culture was thriving something many many non BI players didn't know prior to the event.

Yes the culture Is in fact struggling as we've became a modern world that's just the unfortunate truth like many others, Gaelic is no longer a brought up subject in language classes (here In Scotland at least) and It being mentioned in history is scarce however to make an compelling story leaving out this fact In my eyes actually isnt harmful long as its still providing and being educating on other aspects.

I'm more than happy to discus and chat about this I dont bite I just fail to see the issues that were being brought up in main chat because a "mistake" or a slight change isn't always negative appropriation

Gaelic as a whole is an incredibly diverse culture that's never really had any issues with social media presance unlike the (unfortunate!) situations of native Americans where any sorts of appropriation is deemed incredibly rude.

Perhaps these issues are only an issue to the Irish parts of the events and if they are I dont have much leg to stand on but from the Scottish/upper Ireland (NI) parts of the events I haven't had any issues myself

I'm Scottish, no support.

It's just not cultural appropriation - cultural appropriation specifically demeans or mocks the culture it's from, which Coigreach has done none of. It uses aspects from Celtic culture in a considerate way, and is respectful to the source. Just using a culture as inspiration for an event is not a problem if that culture allows it and it is done respectfully.

Wolvden has had issues recently with Native American imagery, and that's lead to an increase of awareness around Cultural Appropriation on the site. However while it's important to have that awareness, it's important to follow up that thought with research into that culture and how people connected to it feel about it being used as inspiration.

Coigreach uses aspects from multiple Celtic cultures, so I can only talk about the Scottish / Gaelic aspect of it, but I've never had any issues with it. Heck it's my favourite events because I get to talk about my country! I agree with Sol that it would be good to hear from anyone from anyone who's from any of the other Celtic nations - especially Ireland and Northern Ireland since that's one of the main sources of inspiration for the event.
