Art pricing?

Art pricing?
Posted 2023-08-27 10:43:45
I've been thinking if I should start selling art on here, but I don't really know what GC and SC are worth since I've been away for quite some time lmao
Any suggestions for art pricing in GC for my art if I were to open a shop? C:
All art here credited to me! (Polargeist #9192)
Feral examples
(I haven't done too much feral lately but I will definitely do more soon)

Human examples

Also some of these scenes take over 10 hours to complete so naturally I would charge a bit more for them

most people price their art based on USD to GC convertion which is usually 1USD = 4GC. so if you have average prices in USD for your artwork, you should be able to easily adjust it to GC prices. SC to GC convertion is on average 1GC = 400SC.

Unfortunately I've never taken USD prices so I don't really know what my art is worth on that plane

in that case, you could generally go through other people's art shops (or find some artists online that take USD commissions) and see in general what their art quality goes for. to test how well your prices work, you can ask yourself whether you'd buy a, for example, bust piece of your art quality for x amount of money if you were to order from someone else. this works well when you have friends as well, especially close ones that will honestly tell you whether they would buy the piece for that much or even more than that, or less than that.

some people also do x amount of money per hour, which may not be as accurate for you in case you take a lot of breaks or get distracted during drawing. I heard the usual for that is $5 per hour, but it obviously varies. you can always test your prices with smaller commissions and see whether you feel it's worth doing the commission for the amount you're getting.
