🐉 Wolvern Den || wolf-wyvern adoptables [open!]

Welcome to the Wolvern's Den!

Deep in the secluded wildernesses of this world, where humans rarely dare to tread, reside mighty beasts of many kinds. One of these strange and fearsome creatures is the lupine wyvern, Vellus lupedraconis (commonly known as a "wolvern"). These fierce territorial predators are surprisingly intelligent - some argue they are even sapient - but lack the dexterity to use tools or develop written language. Similar to true wolves, they live in family groups consisting of two alphas (almost always the parents of the pack) along with a collection of subordinates who aid in the rearing of the alpha pair's offspring. They are shy and skittish creatures in the wild, but have been known to bond with humans under the right circumstances.

Rules

+ Do not, under any circumstances, remove or obscure my signature (that is the bird in a circle - I made it as unobtrusive as possible, so please don't touch it!)

+ Do not take a wolvern you do not own, or copy the design, or make your own wolvern without permission. This is a closed species.

+ Once you own a wolvern, you are free to do with it as you please, whether that be using it as an OC, using it to roleplay, writing it into a story, whatever you want! You are free to ignore any lore I write about them.

+ However, please contact me and request permission before making any changes to the actual design of the wolvern.

+ You don't need to credit me if you post your wolvern's reference, or any art made of it, offsite or anywhere else onsite. If you do want to credit me, a link to my Wolvden profile is fine!

+ Do not resell your wolvern, or put it up for adoption yourself. If you no longer want it, contact me and we can work something out! Most likely I will offer to put it up for re-adoption via the thread.

+ Rules are subject to change and expansion as and when I feel a situation warrants it.

How to get a wolvern

Right now, there are three ways to get your hands on a wolvern of your own:

- Buy a premade wolvern for GC or SC (the easiest way)

- Enter a competition for a free premade wolvern (doing so usually involves some kind of creative task, such as writing or visual art)

- Order a custom wolvern for GC

In the future, I plan to add the possibility of breeding your wolverns to acquire new offspring, but right now as I'm setting things up this is not an available option.

Pricing

Note: prices are subject to change as the economy continues to fluctuate, and as I get a feel for things!

Premade wolverns typically cost between 15-20 GC or 750-1000 SC depending on the wolvern's complexity and how long it took to make. These prices are usually non-negotiable, but certain items may be accepted as partial payment, and holds may be possible with payment of a deposit.

Custom wolverns cost between 40-50 GC depending on the complexity of the request. Wolverns based on existing designs (e.g. a wolvern based on a Wolvden wolf) are cheaper than wolverns that lack a visual reference (e.g. a wolvern based on a particular colour palette).

If you don't have access to GC or SC, you can always enter a competition to win a premade wolvern! I plan to release at least one "free" premade wolvern for every two paid ones, meaning there's still plenty of opportunities to get one! :D

Price: 750 SC

Wolvern 002 - available!

Price: 18 GC

Wolvern 003 - available!

Contest - impress me!

For this first contest, there's no solid structure - you don't have to do anything specific, but as a suggestion, feel free to name the wolvern, do some creative writing, draw them, or anything else creative you feel like doing! Judging will be done not necessarily based on the relative quality of the entered works, but how much effort has been put in - so feel free to enter even if you're not a super experienced writer or artist! ^u^

Competition ends: 10th November 2020

bookmarking for when I have a bit of time to write. Imma call them California, or Cali for short  since they remind me of Cali after wildfire season: scorched, but still alive.

Flames danced amongst charcoal trunks, bathing the old forest in vibrant hues of red and orange. Amidst the smouldering trees walked an elegant creature. Grey as the trees they walked among, fierce red like embers embedded in their fur. In their eye danced mflames, mirroring that which blazed around them. With one final glance, they left the forest, flames snuffing out in their wake as new shoots peeked out from the fire-enriched soil. Let the old burn away to make way for the new.

Entering for the contest bean (I may have gone overboard on the story ;w;):

I would call them Anthanasios (it means Immortal and stems from greek language)

The wild wind howled and the old broken trunks of ancient willow trees did little to mask the wind held cries of a creature few had seen but many knew, its legends had spread from tongue to tongue yet changed from ear to ear the more the tale was told and yet the beast did not mind for it had no need to fear said words as a slip of the tongue was not as harsh to it as was the sting of an iron blade, with yet another skyward cry the creature took to the skies the air thick with smoke and fog both so thick they choked those within the cold tendrils of the night air finally seeping into the creatures lungs as it fled its home as fire bore down upon it, this fire was not one born of nature, but one born of man, one born of one who could destroy the world it lived in should it truly desire and yet it could never grasp the tip of what lay within the world they burn with their bitter and controlling ways, this, was why the creature fled.
