Beasts of Avishkar [Semi-Lit/Lit] [18+] [Group Werewolf RP] [Group Worldbuild] [LOOKING FOR MEMBERS]

In a realm where magic and technology are as intertwined as the day is to the night, monstrous beasts prowl the land, their horrific cries a cacophony of death to any soul unfortunate enough to bear witness to such a noise. The grotesque manifestation of Man's truest nature, the werewolf of Avishkar knows nothing of joy, nothing of hope, nor especially, anything of Love. They do not live as you and I do. Monsters, cursed to walk the realm with their truest nature bare to the world, upon the arrival of the full moon. These beasts know only violence, and hatred, and bloodlust. Such a curse is only bestowed upon those who stray from The Light and revel in darkness. Liars and cheats. Murders and villains. Wretched heathens who have chosen to call their animalistic wants and urges Master, rather than revel in the might of a true higher power, causing them to stray on a path of selfishness and evil. The werewolf is not a creature to be pitied, but one to be feared and punished. For remember:

"There is no such thing as a good werewolf."

- Doctor Dolph Reaper, Head of The Department of Monsterous Studies at Graywood University, "The Beasts of Avishkar", Year 1963, Second  Moon of Autumn, First Quarter.

You are a werewolf in the world of Avishkar (Uh-vish-car). This land holds no love for your kind. It is paramount that a werewolf's true nature remains a secret, lest the vir (veer) (non-werewolves) find out.

That is, unless one can find The Lycan Order. The Order is said to be a society of werewolves, hidden from the vir. There have been attempts by vir to find such a place, but to no avail. No one's truly sure such a group even exists, and how could it? To think, werewolves, people just like you, living a regular life with friends and family and community? It's a pipe dream. And yet, you can't help but wonder…

(For a placeholder, I have the idea our characters will meet locked up, on their way to a holding facility. It's a temporary idea and I'd like to make it more customized to our character's backstories/motivations/etc.)

ABOUT

  • [Five Members] I'm looking for 4 other people for this RP, making the group 5 in total.

  • [18+ Only] Participants must be 18 or older as I myself am 19 and am uncomfortable RPing with minors.

  • [Semi-literate and literate writers] This means ideally, posts will be a minimum of one paragraph long (5 sentences) with the exception of rapid-fire dialogue scenes (rapid-fire as in all or both parties involved in the dialogue are RPing in real-time).

  • [Forum or Discord?] This RP can take place either on the forums or through Discord, whichever the group prefers. Put the name of the author, whose passage is quoted at the begging of this post, somewhere in your character sheet.

  • [Worldbuilding] I want group worldbuilding to be a big thing with this RP! What our characters end up doing I want to be largely dictated by their goals/motivations. Events, places, people, etc of the world I want us to come up with as a group!

  • [D&D Elements?] I think incorporating some sort of simple dice-rolling mechanics for combat situations (if we go the Discord route) could be really fun! This part is, again, mostly up to the group though.

WORLD INFO

  • These are some key points I've come up with so far, but as we go on these can change as much or as little as the group would like! Inputting your own ideas is HIGHLY encouraged!

Werewolf Info - Werewolves are actually able to turn into their beast forms at will, whenever they'd like. During these times, werewolves have full control over themselves whilst in beast form. However, on the night of a full moon, all werewolves are forced into their beast forms with absolutely zero way of controlling themselves. A werewolf may very well attack their loved ones if they meet on a full moon. Families and packs of werewolves have even been known to attack and seriously injure, sometimes even kill, each other on full moons.

Werewolves are either born or made. A child can be born with lycanthropy, but not present as a werewolf until they reach puberty. It's possible for a werewolf to be born from two human parents if the werewolf gene skips a generation or two. A person can also become a werewolf by getting bitten by a werewolf.

Werewolves are especially weak to silver, but can still be hurt/fatally harmed by other materials. Wolfsbane is also especially toxic to werewolves. While in wolf form, werewolves have exceptionally fast healing capabilities, but the process is extremely draining, and could, ironically, kill the werewolf if the wounds are severe enough.

Avishkar Info - (Think "Eberron" from D&D for an idea of what I'm going for here, but if you know nothing about Eberron, no need to worry about that!) The technology level/aesthetic of Avishkar is booming industrialism. The big major cities are almost entirely industrial, with most other places being semi-industrial to not at all. Trains and airships are the highest technological levels of transportation. Seafaring ships, horses/carriages, and the like are the most common forms of transportation. It's very important to note, that magic is used to run these industrial hubs. The more premium the item/industry/service, the more likely magic is being used to aid it in some way. As you go further down the class chain, the less likely you are to see magic being used regularly.

Zoos - A sanction imposed by the Church requires all werewolves to be Marked. The vir take an "X" shaped branding iron to the side of your face, visible for all to see. Once marked, a werewolf is then taken to the nearest holding facility for "undesirables," or "zoos," as most people call them. A large square fence made of silver, often situated in the middle of large cities. Inside, dozens of captured and Marked werewolves on display for the public to gawk at and harass. On full moons , they're chained to the bars by large, heavy collars, to keep from killing each other. But once a zoo reaches capacity, facilities will often make a spectacle of unchaining a few wolves on a full moon so the public may watch them kill each other.

After the Crusades led against your kind, the Puritans decided that it'd be better to make an example out of werewolves rather than merely killing them. After all, The Church of the Silver Flame believes werewolves to be a manifestation of Man's sin and corruption, so better to leave them as a warning to those whom might stray from the Flame. Hence the creation of zoos.
