Start Lore: When Hawthorne was barely weaned, a kind pack, the Howlheart Pack, took her in. Found starving in a bush by a scout, she was rushed to Stormchaser to decide her fate. "What should we do? We can't leave her here; she's only a pup! Surely she'll die without nourishment?" the scout explains. Stepping out of her cave, Stormchaser inspects the young wolf. Stormchaser's mouth falls agape in curiosity. "Jackson, look at the patterns that mark her fur. She is...special. Not every wolf has such a unique marking that litters their body. This pup has to be a gift from the Gods, no? We have been blessed with a warrior, a fighter. I can tell she will accomplish amazing things," she woofs. Gently, Stormchaser carries the pup by her scruff into her den, laying Hawthorne on a nesting material, and padding her head with moss. "Hawthorne, just like the plant, with an extra 'e' added." Stormchaser coils around Hawthorne, licking the pup a few times to ensure she's living. "You're going to do great things, and I'm going to make sure of it," Stormchaser whispers.

Stormchaser raised Hawthorne like one of her own. Soon enough, Hawthorne blended in with the pack well. Sometimes, a few insults were tossed her way here or there. Before, they didn't do much to Hawthorne. As she grew older, the insults turned into pushes and shoves, into hiding rotten food in her sleeping nest, going as far as leading her out of camp, making her lost in dangerous coyote territory. One day, it just became too much, and she put an end to her tormenting. Hawthorne was very reserved, only making snide remarks when she needed to. One day, that all changed.

Hawthorne was on her last day of puppyhood. She saunters over to a tree, ready to strength train. Before she started, she could hear small voices and laughs around the rims of her ears. Have you seen her? She's so...weird and icky. Look at her fur! It's like she fell into an oil spill!
Hawthorne whips her head around to see other pups giggling and pointing at her. Ears flattening, she ducks away, sad and embarrassed. Softly crying, Hawthorne hides in a bush. "Why do they all have to pick on me..." A rustle is heard in the bushes. "Well, you're a little wrong. I don't pick on you." Hawthorne yelps. "Who's there?" A pink wolf emerges from the bushes and giggles. "It's me! L'altra dimensione!" she barks. Hawthorne warily eyes her packmate. "What are you doing here?" Hawthorne sniffles. L'altra sits down beside her. "You're crying. And I know what happened. The other pups were being nasty again to you 'cause of your fur, weren't they?" Looking away, Hawthorne nods solemnly. L'altra sighs. "You've got to remember something, Thorne. If you weren't special, Queen Stormchaser wouldn't have raised you and kept you alive!" L'altra licks Hawthorne comfortingly. "Don't let them get to you. You're awesome, no matter to your patches. Plus, one day, I bet you're gonna meet someone just like you, and they're gonna like you as much as you like them, and together, you're gonna put those wolves into their places. I believe in you. Believe in yourself, too, sometimes." With that, L'altra dimensione walks away.
The gears in Hawthorne's head start to turn. "Yeah...yeah, that's right. I'm going to show them. I'm gonna show them all!" Hawthorne pads over to the clearing, the pups still there like before.
"Hey!" Hawthorne barks. One of the pups struts over. "What do you want, weirdo? You still got spare time after spending hours tryna clean off your fur?" The pup's clique laughs and encourages them to keep insulting Hawthorne. "Call me a weirdo one more time, and you'll see what happens," Hawthorne growls. The pup smirks. "Okay, okay, weirdo." Hawthorne's eyes widen. As she tries to flee the scene, the pup trips her, causing Hawthorne to land facefirst into a pile of rotting food, not yet salvaged. Hawthorne desperately tries to clean the rancid stuff off of her, but it's no use. All the pups around her chortle at her embarrassment. The world is spinning around her. She meets L'altra's eyes. Show them!, L'altra mouths. She's right. L'altra dimensione can't keep fighting her battles for her. She's gotta take matters into her own paws.

Lunging forward, Hawthorne attacks the pup. Like cowards, the pup's clique hides behind a tree, watching from afar as the pair fight. Sooner or later, a circle of pups encases the two, cheering and betting on the winner. Hawthorne snaps at the young pup's tail, causing a yelp to ring out through the camp.

Away in her den, resting, Stormchaser hears a piercing sound. "Ouch!" she howls. "What is going on?" Stormchaser checks through the caves, making sure everything's alright. She reaches the pup den, and her eyes widen. The cave is empty. Stormchaser rushes around camp, looking for the pups, until she hears the all-too-familiar sound. Go, go, go! Claw her face off! Bite her paws! Hawthorne's gonna lose so bad! No, she's not! Shut up! The brawling pup savagely claws Hawthorne's left eye. Hawthorne staggers, tumbling down. Yeah! You did it! pups yell all around. "No! You may have won the battle, but I have won the war!" Leaping forward, Hawthorne clamps down on the pup's leg, not letting go. The pup cries and screams, apologizing greatly.
"Everyone, silence, at once!" Stormchaser's voice booms. The spectators scurry away, huddling together. "Can someone tell me what is going on?" The pup plays the victim, feigning innocence. "Oh, Queen Stormchaser, you should have been there! I was minding my own business, and out of the blue, Hawthorne attacked me! I didn't do a single thing to her." Hawthorne interjects, "That's not true! They started it first. I-" Enough! Stormchaser growls, cutting Hawthorne off. "We will discuss this and your consequences. I want to see both of you, in my cave, now. This isn't over."
Stormchaser pads away. "Look at what you've done, loser," the pup hisses to Hawthorne as they quietly walk behind their queen.

"Sit," Stormchaser commands. Hawthorne and the pup sit down away from each other. "Before you start yapping about your side of the story, I'm going to hear it from Vengo dalla luna, who saw the entire fight." Vengo dalla luna shyly walks into the cave. For five minutes, Vengo explains it all from a neutral standpoint. Stormchaser drops her head and sighs in discontent, obviously annoyed and
disappointed. "Vengo dalla luna just told me what had happened. Yes, I understand that she started the squabble first, but Hawthorne, that is not how I raised you. Both of you, for the next week, will be eating last and you are to clean out the caves daily. No one can help you. Is that understood?" Hawthorne and the pup nod their heads solemnly. "This better not happen again! As for your injuries, your leg will heal okay, but Hawthorne, your scratch is going to leave a scar. Go meet Grape Juice: he will give you what you need." The pup walks out of the den and Hawthorne starts to trail behind. Stormchaser quickly barks. "And, Hawthorne?" She turns around to face Stormchaser. "I like your fighting, kid. You're not too bad." Hawthorne smiles a little as she walks out of her mother's cave.

Love Lore: Once Hawthorne turned one year old, she started working diligently in order to become the next best leader. Almost all of her time was used to scout to get stronger. If Hawthorne wasn't eating, she was scouting. She barely slept these days.
Hawthorne was coming back from a scout when she saw her pack gathered in front of Stone Pedestal. "What's going on?" she wondered aloud. "Only the best tradition here!" L'altra playfully shoves Hawthorne. "The Festival of Fun! We get to travel to other packs and have a lot of fun! There's games, contests, and tons of different foods to try! This season, our pack gets to host it!" Hawthorne flicks her ears dismissively. "Fun? I don't have time for fun. Just menial distractions to waste my time," she sighs. L'altra frowns. "Don't say that. You'll have time to work and you'll have time to play a few games, too. Now, come on up. Queen Stormchaser's handing out our job assignments!" Shaking her head, Hawthorne follow L'altra dimensione. There was no arguing with her- she's too persuasive. Queen Stormchaser gives an mouthy grin to her daughter. "Hawthorne, how are you? I've noticed that you've been working very hard recently." "I'm okay. Just gotta keep up with the grind, and I'll be amazing in no time," Hawthorne woofs proudly. "Okay.
