The Cavern Traveler
In a massive underground cave, a litter of pups was born to a beautiful wolf of crimson and
Black fur patches. Her litter of pups were just as gorgeous as she was, but one pup stood out to her. Her daughter of dark brown fur emitted an aura. One that she couldn't quite comprehend. This pup was different.
As the days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months, the crimson lady would visit her pups every day in the cave they were born in. She fed them well, and taught them many things. It wasn't until the pups hit six months did she finally decided to move them elsewhere. They were getting too big for their home.
Her smaller pup of dark brown fur didn't want to go. She wanted to stay in their cave longer. Her mother argued back, saying that they needed to stretch their legs and explore the world above. Her daughter was not having it, so she ran deeper into the cave while her mother tried to chase after her.
The pup ran through many different tunnels, finding more and more caves in this underground world she grew up in. She had already lost her mother by the time she found herself in a fifth cave, but she was lost too.
Lost and afraid, the pup spent months aimlessly wandering the catacombs. Whatever bones or animal carcasses she found, she would eat them. All while she was being lured in by an unknown creature to move deeper into the caverns.
When the pup did eventually make it somewhere, it was a dimly lit cave that had candles and was decorated in bones and animal pelts. What lived in the cave was a tall humanoid, but their features were often obscured by the pelt of a bear it wore.
The humanoid fed her and spoke to her in a language she didn't understand. With cues and gestures it made with its gnarled fingers, she was able to somewhat understand it.
After six long months in near-darkness, the pup was guided out of the cave by the figure and led to the outside world. It was evening, and a cool one. Wasp it perhaps springtime? She didn't know. What she did know was that the outside world was beautiful, and she spent her final moments with the humanoid playing around in the prairie they found themselves in.
When the figure had to return back to the catacombs it came from, it waved the young wolf goodbye, speaking in a hoarse, growling voice, "Catacomb," before descending down a tunnel. The pup howled her goodbye, promising to herself to never forget the being.
Ever since then, the young wolf took on the name "Catacombs," spending the rest of her teen years wandering the world in search of her mother and siblings.
