Biography

Founder of Alsace

Wolfdog, found as a puppy and brought to a Rescue while her mother, who was a lone wolf at the time, was hunting. This is where she spent the majority of her adolescence, before escaping with Bistre's help.
Mate, Bistre.
First litter: Two daughters, Salai and Potato.
Adopted daughter, Siddgeir.
Lost her eye in a fight with a whitetail buck.
Cape and bracelet was a gift from Herbert as she was the temporary herbalist for her pack before Maine.

Present day, 2 years old, midsummer
"Fennie?"
Fenris dropped down on all paws from where she was finishing the designing of the new nursery den. Plenty of moss was needed here, to ensure the puppies wouldn't snag on a branch or tendril. Pincoya, the most recent addition to the pack, was sheepishly blinking up at her, her eyes so wide you could see their whites in her curiosity.

Only a little, half-abandoned pup like Pincoya would be unfazed enough to call her 'Fennie', she reminded herself, as she refrained from flicking her ear back in irritation at the nickname. Only one wolf ever called her that. Pincoya, whose parents were of a different pack, had become very much like Fenris and her mate Bistre's own- as their own litter spent more time training now, Pincoya was constantly following them around.
"Yes, little one?"
Pincoya sniffed and frowned, deep in her own puppyish confusion, before asking, "How was it that you created Alsace?"

Fenris frowned back at the unhappy Pincoya playfully and beckoned her closer, settling down so they were eye-to-eye when Pincoya stood.
"You're asking for a long story, Pin."
"That's OK. Salai was going to teach me to ambush, but she's busy now. I have time."
"Very well."
She led the puppy over to her own selection of the camp, beneath the alpha's cave. The camp was circular, meaning echoes travelled dinistinctly, but it gave the camp a sense of togetherness as everyone's conversations melted into a comfortable, inaudible chatter- reassuring, if anything, that everyone was content.

The ginger wolfdog tumbled gracelessly through the thickets and busheds surrounding the waterfall, letting out audible whimpers every time her small body thudded against the ground. Straightening up somewhat stiffly once the ordeal was over, she tried to maintain an air of nonchalance, though she found it hard. Bistre came bounding down jubilantly after her. He grinned when he realised she was unhurt.

"That is most certainly not how you hunt for bird's eggs. You lied when you said you knew how. Anyone with half an eye would've seen that branch couldn't prop you up,"
Fenris narrowed her eyes and opened her jaws to speak, but Bistre beat her to it. With a slight pity, he added,
"Which brings me onto my next point; wolves don't climb trees. Neither do wolfdogs-"
"I was not trying to climb that tree! I just wanted to gain a little height, to reach out easier!"
"Still, using brittle branches is not the way to go," he continued teasing, whilst searching Fenris over for any injuries.
"Whatever. You're good." He shuffled back as Fenris stalked away with mock-indignation.
"Huh, so that's how you solve your problems, then?" he huffed after her. "I'm not berating you. I'm just saying, if you hadn't lied, I would've taught you. Whatever. Not important. Now. It's fine." he trailed off.
Fenris looked back, tilted her head slightly, widened her eyes. "I didn't mean to upset you, Bistre. But I wanted to prove my competence. You've done so much for me since I left the shelter, but I suppose my attempts backfired."

Bistre pawed at a root on the soiled ground, silently recounting the events leading up to this day; as a lone adolescent, his curiosity got the better of him one day, and he snaked up to the back yard of a small, pitying settlement that claimed to be a 'Wolfdog and Dog Rescue'. The barbed field was full of pathetic domestics who cringed away in ditches whenever he approached, but Fenris seemed unfazed by him. They developed a loose friendship, leading to Bistre helping Fenris escape a few sunrises ago. Now, as barely-adult yearlings, they journeyed aimlessly together.

"Don't dwell on it, Fennie," he reassuered Fenris, as she shot him a smile. "Nobody thinks you're incompetent," he added as he led the way forward.

As the night grew lighter, they nestled together under a spruce bough, pressing together for warmth. Fenris, not one to makes small talk, got straight to the point.
"What are we doing?"
"Huh?"
"With our lives? What do we do? We're loners, and lone wolves don't last long. We need to find a pack."

Bistre sat up, showering them with raindrops from the disturbed tree needles above them.
"Mm. What if we were to, er, not do that?"
"Oh yeah? How would that work out?"
He settled back down.
"Well, obviously, we can't live on our own. But what's stopping us from making our own pack? Our predicament is perfect."

"There's not much happened after that. We found wolves who joined us, fought us, mocked our attempts at bringing together a new pack- but we managed no?" She looked down at Pincoya. "That's essentially it. We're here now," She sighed. "Alsace succeeded."
