Mahamatra

The desert is an unforgivable place. Mahamatra, more than anyone else, knows that.

For it was the desert that took the life from the previous leader of the pack, John. In an attempt to escape fate in the aftermath of a landslide that destroyed the pack's mountain home, John led them southwards, along the mountain ridges of the prarie, until all turned to sand beneath their paws.

John would not survive to oversee his pack's arrival. But, his spirit would always remain with them.

Yet, in his stead, a young hunter would take the throne. With the experienced scouts at his ready, and the pack at his heels, he would lead them through that barren wasteland, through those endless dunes, to a beautiful oasis that would become their new home.

In memory of his late leader, an homage to the packs original name, he announced their new title.

"No longer are we inhabitants of the mountains. From now on, we are the Spirits of Al-Sahra."

And as he spoke these words, the wind picked up, swirling loose grains of sand around his paws; the sign of a blessing from those who did not survive the journey.
