What terrible luck, to be born under a blood moon.

Quillen's pack had traveled due south into the neighboring Jungle to seek larger prey . A pregnant Zievonya, having had a difficult pregnancy even early on gave birth to three tiny, premature pups- two of which were stillborn and the third was not expected to survive. It was questioned whether or not resources and energy should be put into caring for the mewling infant who had come so early and was so weak... and was born under a bad moon. Zievonya was not overly superstitious and was more prone to thinking logically, so she took the baby's strong voice as a sign of hope and continued to care for her only child. Despite the odds, the pup (named Quillen, once she began to grow and toddle away from the fear the wolves had of her expiring in her sleep) survived and excelled in practically all of her lessons- she was at a disadvantage, being smaller than an average pup, but what she lacked in size she made up for in intelligence and tenacity.
