Biography
My mom is dead. I don't even know what to feel. I barely knew here. She died when I was still a young pup, barely weaned. I knew she was old when she had me and my littermates, but I didn't realize she was that old! I miss her, but what I miss more is the life with her I'm never going to have. I look at the packmates I was raised with, Pegmatite and Varsiscite, and see the ways their mom, Glaucanite, cares for them. Even though they're adolescents now and a couple months older than I am, Glaucanite still takes care of them. She licks their bruises after training, encourages them, and makes sure they get enough to eat. I will never get that.
I still have my dad, Onyx, though. I know that I'm his and my mom's only biological pup, which for some reason made me seem special to my mom. I'm not really sure why. My adopted siblings are just as much my siblings as my littermates were. More even. They've been here longer and have taken over some of the roles Rust would have filled. Jasper watches over me, even though I'm not a pup anymore. Rhyolite gently treats any scratches I get. Cordiorite regales me with stories of his scouting missions (I so wish I could go with him, but I have to be stuck in camp as a pupsitter. Sigh). And then Ekanite is only a few months older than me, so he plays with me. We're also training to be pupsitters together, and neither of us are quite confident in it, so we've bonded over that. I love them more than my own littermates, who I barely even remember the scents of. Apparently Labradorite chased them all off. My parents told me he would have chased me out too, but my mom was so desperate to keep at least one pup from her last litter that she and my dad fought to keep me. I'm grateful for that. It does make me look at Labradorite with a bit of doubt, though. Why would he have caused that pain to my mom? What leader would purposefully hurt a member of their pack like that?
