Found as a young pup, abandoned in the swamps, Pondweed almost didn't make it at all. Even those without the Sight could recognize her as offspring of the Trickster Wolf, which had surely led to her abandonment by her mother's pack. Her would-be adoptive mother, Fireside, brought her home immediately.
Pondweed was very ill for a long time. Her tiny body was little more than skin and bones, covered in fleas and ticks, and wracked with vicious tremors. She could barely move, and could barely eat or drink. Lichen spent a lot of time with her, nursing her back to health under the watchful eyes of Sunflower and Fireside. She recovered very slowly, spending two and a half moons on the brink.
Despite that, she was playful and whimsical, more and more as her strength returned. Even after she seemed to have fully recovered, she still suffered bouts of weakness and couldn't seem to play for as long as the other pups, though it didn't stop her from trying. In the time she was healing, she showed a great deal of interest and affinity with herbalism, and Lichen decided to take her on as an apprentice once she came of age.
As an adult, she needs to rest frequently, and still has trouble keeping up with her rowdier packmates. She buries herself in her work as the herbalist, now that Lichen has stepped down in her old age, and often finds herself alone. Sometimes, her eyes will catch on things that even her Other-Sighted packmates can't see, indicating an ability perhaps greater than Ashen's. However, she is completely mute as a result of spending her formative moons in the throes of near-death, and it's difficult to pinpoint what it is exactly that is holding her intent gaze.
