The alpha, the all-father, master of the pack. Ruaig heard the voices of the stars as a pup and went to form his own pack, guided by the moon and the Goddess of the Hunt. Ezme joined him early on and as a believer in Diana, he took her as his favoured mate. As the pack's overseer, he watches over and guides each member, choosing their roles based on what the stars decide. So far, his intuition has never been wrong on the fate of a single member of his pack.
Ruaig believes the red mask on his face is a gift from Diana herself, as though her bloodied hands held his face and and gazed upon him. When pups are born with the same mask, he keeps a very close eye on them, waiting to see which of them may be the one he chooses as his next in line. A pup born to his second wife, Bronagh - Ruaraidh - has so far been the first of his own lineage he'd like to surpass him... But one other in his pack is his true favourite.
Lugh, an adopted outsider, has proven to be his golden child. Ruaraidh has been hesitant to accept his role as future leader, as if he knows that Lugh is Ruaig's true choice.
