California Love's original name was Amator back in his rogue pack before he changed his name. California Love was always being picked on by the wolves around his own age for being slightly, barely, smaller than the majority of the male wolves in the pack. He was not small enough to be considered a runt but was still mistreated for being barely different and the older pack members knew of the behavior and never talked to the ones doing it but to him about standing up for himself.
After a while, he grew sick of it and finally snapped at the wolves which led to some of them going to the alpha and making up a whole story of California Love attacking them with scratches that they made themselves against the sharp work edges. The alpha was furious and called a meeting for all the wolves to attend, including the pups and adolescents. When the alpha called upon California Love, the wolves snickered as the alpha instantly banished him for attacking the pack members without a valid reason. No one tried to object to his banishment, he was an orphan so he had no parents.
That night he left and ran towards the mountains until he bumped into the wolf that he would become close to, Romantic. He looked at the wolf and offered a warm place to stay, ignoring his teary eyes and California Love accepted instantly, feeling as if he had nothing to lose. He did not have an official coming to the pack with encounters with the alpha. Every packmate just knew he was a part of the pack and when Romantic took him under his wing, he was then received an official welcoming before the pack in the traditional way.
From that point forward, he was the apprentice to Romantic and was around a wolf named Midnight and his pup named Azure. Azure would usually follow him around but he didn't mind as he saw the pup as his little brother, growing to love him and swear to himself to protect him no matter what. He secretly watched the pup and taught him a few things about herbs and what to avoid from becoming sick easier.
March 10th
As California Love and Azure grew older, Romantic saw something different between the now two adolescents. Azure was gaining more knowledge about the herbs on his own while California had not changed much. Romantic saw the way Azure's eyes light up with curiosity as he watched him work around the den, asking questions about everything and even helping a little bit. California Love was growing a little more sluggish and not having passion for the work. Which led to the ultimate decision, Romantic had chosen to have Azure as an apprentice rather than California Love.
To California Love, this was unfair as he had been working with Romantic longer and knew more but Romantic was set on having Azure as his apprentice. California Love started to have hatred for Azure as he felt like the only reason he was chosen was because he was pretty much Romantic and Midnight's son. This caused tension to build between the two as Azure tried to keep talking to him but he was not having it and eventually ended up snapping at Azure, "I do not want anything to do with you! You have taken the one thing constant in my life, the only thing I had!" It was that day where they stopped speaking towards each other but every opportunity California Love got, he would mess with Azure and his work.
March 13th
fter a while California Love went a lot more rogue. With his knowledge of herbalism, he started to mix herbs and created drugs for the other wolves. The side effects caused many issues as they became a lot more sluggish and lazy, none of this went unnoticed by Arctic but he did not do anything about it until he found it affected Blue Eyes. As she had taken them because, "He said it was safe and would make me more aware of the pups." Although he did not care for Blue Eyes too much, he did not want her sick. Not only did this incident warrant California Love from herbalism but the treatment of Azure had topped it off. He was no longer allowed to practice herbalism within this pack.
Arctic was approached by California Love during a sunny day in the mountains. Birds could be heard chirping within the trees and the river water running. Arctic finally noticed the wolf after a few seconds and said without facing, "I will not allow you to do herbalism." California Love snorted at that, "I am not here for that. I want to do pupsitting." Arctic turned towards him with a curious look, "What makes you think you will do well pupsitting? You have poisoned the pack with those drugs. Some of the wolves have pups, you are not cut out for the job."
California Love's eyes darkened with anger, "But that was only one time. I am willing to work to earn your trust." Arctic stared at the male for a moment before saying and turning back towards the trees. "My answer is final, no. Either you deal with it or you leave. I will not have a jealous wolf trying to pupsit while also feeding other wolves poison. They need role models and you are not one.
