Slate opened his eyes and stared at his mother, Dewdrop, she stared back at him and sighed soon Storm-runner crept into the den, fearful, she sighed, "do we have to?" A tear fell from her face and onto Slate's he shook his head and looked back at his mom. Storm-runner nodded not seeming very sad, "he can't stay here, that's for sure." He said bluntly, Dewdrop sobbed, "why did you impregnate me if we can't keep the pups?" She growled through tears, Storm-runner sighed and looked away, "just shut up and take him to the forest, hopefully some stray wolf will take him in and nurse him" he growled, Dewdrop wrapped her tail around her pup and bared her teeth, "he's staying and that's final!" her nostrils flared, Storm-runner bit her leg, "if anyone should get the final word in this it should be me." He growled, Dewdrop picked slate up and sighed heavily, a small trail of tears left behind her.

she set him down on the forest floor and touched noses with her pup for the last time, slightly smiling as he playfully batted her face. A few rollovers later a strange wolf took the starving, wounded pup in and nursed him alongside another wolf, Moondust, he considers her his love. One day their mother came back from hunting, her cruel intention to poison and kill her pups was about to play out, before Moondust sniffed the prey, "mom, this is rotten and poisoned" she looked up from the prey and sniffled,, "you don't love us anymore?" She burst into tears. Later that day they fled their home
