When the Pack had begun to Split, before River's death, Hail's secret had been found out, along with that of Peach - a hunter who possessed the ability, and had been helping him. The two would secretly trade jobs - Peach asking the spirits for help, while Hail would hunt for her - for seasons, under the Pack's nose. This only helped further divide the Pack, as Hail was River's son...
