Secretly relieved that Mercer will take her place as the next lead

As the first surviving pup of Bram, she was raised with the solemn expectation that she would take her father's place as the pack's leader. To most young pups this might have been an exciting prospect, but in her heart she was unsure. Seeing her father struggle each night under the weight of his actions, constantly wondering if his next choice would be the right one, all of this troubled her deeply. She yearned for the simplicity of a life like her mother's, running freely with the hunting team, having the chance to raise a family, that's all she truly wanted.

She was eager to start exploring and learning to hunt as an adolescent, but her mother convinced her to hold back, stressing the importance of her safety as the potential heir. Not wanting to let the pack down, Nyneve decided to start out as a pup sitter.

When her mentor Mythka revealed that Bram was the father of her litter, Nyneve finally saw a glimpse of the future she once dreamed of - witnessing the arrival of her half-brother Mercer was to Nyneve as if the weight of the world had been lifted from her. Still, she worries about Mercer being so young, and has taken it upon herself to be there for him. She hopes that her presence will help feel more secure in his future role, rather than feeling burdened as she did.
