One of Rime Pack's scouters, as well as it's co-founder. Bear's name is appropriate, both in his appearance and disposition. He is very reserved, quiet, watchful, and laid-back, not panicking even in the most dire straights. He wants to set the example for his fellow wolves, as he has stuck close with Polar ever since they've been guided to the mountains, and saw a bright future with them leading a pack together.
Turf had talked him into pupsitting for his and Thermal's pups, under pretense that it would prepare Bear for fatherhood. However, this meant Bear would have to suspend his scouting role, and so he did without Polar's knowledge. But this would change once Misty came of age. Bear had filled her in on what Turf had done, so Misty was willing to take over his role as pupsitter. Now Bear resolves his scouting duties.
Somewhere down the role, Thermal revealed to Polar about his role in raising her puppies. However, once Bear explained to her, Polar was willing to forgive him and they continue to look forward to becoming parents. They are now officially mates, and expecting puppies.
Bear and Polar's rejoicing over their new family was soon short-lived, when Thermal exacted her plan to takeover Rime Pack. Bear fled with Polar to protect her and their unborn puppies, and for a while, they were lost in the taiga. Bear tried recovering the trail to Rime's territory, while helping Polar find food to sustain them. But thanks to an intervention from Elk in his passage form, the pair rejoined their packmates and returned to the territory, overthrowing Thermal. However, he almost lost Polar during the fight. Elk would return to reenergize Polar, so she would live to see her pups grow. Though he was prepared to father his pups, Bear allowed Gravel, a wolf Steam had met in the desert who was a surprisingly good pupsitter, take charge in raising his children.
Bear would see two of his children, Fog and North, the latter whom he trained, become scouts. Bear was more weary of North, because of the strange circumstances surrounding his weaning. However, once he had grown old enough to scout alone, North would leave one day, and never return, as so would two of his other children, Robin and Cub. Bear was devastated, but he would continue to scout the tundra until he found his pups.
It was not until several months later that Polar would find her children again in the tundra. Polar almost mistook Cub for his father, until she met his eyes. After North had explained everything to her, Polar promised she would bring the pack into the tundra.
While his son would spend his time exploring the glacier up north, Bear himself would uncover a lush rainforest in the south. Upon completing his exploration of this land, Bear would share with Polar his plans to retire from scouting.
