Lexis

You won't see her coming. 

You may even be oblivious to her arrival. 

But once you are marked by Lexis, you will not see the sun rise again. 

It was a freezing, shadowed winter dawn. A small, feared pack of nocturnal hunters were welcoming a new pup; Mystic, shunned by even pack members as dangerous and unnatural, strained under the watch of a dying oak tree. Before the sky was lightened, she met her only daughter. The pup is a glossy jet black, the only variation being a dark brown mask the very color of the oak she was born beneath. 

The pack had been discussing what to do once Mystic bore her litter. She had never carried pups to full term before, and they knew that once born they would have to be taken from her. They may be cruel, but Mystic was a monster. She ate only wolf flesh. They did not fear for the pups' safety, but for thier own once they grew. Mystic did not harm her own pack, but a child devolped on canibalism and raised by Mystic would likey have no qualms over turning on her own. 

Mystic shed tears of joy as she cleaned her cub. She would teach, protect, nurish this life with every strength in her body. The tiny, blind creature would grow into the strongest of queens, before whom prey weeped and other wolves rolled. She gathered the baby's scruff into her jaws and headed back to her pride. 

Before she could enter the cave, five females ambushed her. A young male who she knew dreamt each night of usurping her took the cub into his own mouth and took her far from the bloody scene. 

Mystic's own pride killed her with great sorrow; monster she may have been, but she was thiers. It felt like a betrayal rather then justice. 

Once Mystic was buried with great care beneth the oak she had only hours before lain under the cub was brought back to the cave, and a nest was made for it. They would care for it and keep it's savage nature at bay. 

That night, the heartbroken and rengeful spirit of Mystic roared from her earthy resting place. With almost human screams of utter fury it tore the pride that had taken her daughter from her to shreds. With her death avenged the spirit returned to the earth and rested in peace. 

A few days later Capital stumbled upon the horrific crime scene. Terrified the rabid being that had killed the seemingly innocent pack would return, she left with Mystic's cub- of course, she was unharmed - and ran back to her home where the cub, named Lexis, was raised with love and understanding. 

But this cub had a taste for wolf blood from the womb, and her own blood ran hot with a murderous spirit passed through her family for generations. Most of the time, she stays with her new family peacefully-  however, sometimes a wolf will wrong her. Then, she will stray and have her justice. When she returns weeks later without any reason for being gone, her family is unsettled; but they dare not imagine for themselves what she does on those nighttime hunts... 

After many years, Lexis met a new pack member- she was known as Addiction, and hailed from the far snowy mountins. Once Addiction had proven to be trustworthy, they fell slowly into a deep love.
