One of the wolves filtering through the pines around Salem stops to lick him on the mouth. It's Flicker - his mate, and the second in command of the pack. After Salem had introduced himself, Flicker had bounded up to his side.
"This is Flicker - my longtime partner and deputy of this pack."
Flicker offers a friendly nod, and splits from Salem to lead you trough the trees.
"So - like he said before, we don't get many visitors up this way." He pauses to acknowledge Gale, one of the pack's pups and the herbalist's apprentice. "I'm beginning to wonder why you'd want to visit here. The air is too thin, too cold." He laughs and shakes the fur on his neck, showing how thick it is - much thicker than that of the wolves on the lower plains.
The pale wolf leads you to an annex in the forest, a dark and secluded clearing among the evergreens. A handful of pups tumble about, shepherded by a large she-wolf.

Flicker is the lifelong mate of Salem and the pack's second in command. He and Salem founded the pack together, and Flicker has grown to fill the role of 'shoulder to cry on," being a kind and gentle wolf. He offers support to the pack's members and advises both them and Salem.
Flicker is also a scout, and years ago was the wolf who had originally found this spot. The relatively flat area made for a comfortable home base among the rocky crags of the rest of the mountains.
